great news for anybody who has kids.

Disney and Nick Junior was the main reason for me keeping a sky subscription.

Looks like a fairly good selection. Mostly UK stuff which is good quality anyway

http://quickflix.co.nz/browse/play/kids

I notice their TV catalogue is also building slowly but surely
.
http://quickflix.co.nz/TV/BrowseTV

Still seems to be only UK stuff, but quite a bit more recent stuff like Robin Hood, Mistresses etc

Movies still quite weak though.

Wow... I think I might sign up for the trial and see how it goes. The only thing I would have to consider is bandwidth caps. I expect that I could still save money though, even if I had to step up a plan.

Surely your ISP zero rates Quickflix?  I didn't realise there were any left that didn't!

As far as I know, Telecom doesn't zero-rate anything. But I would be happy to find they did. We chew up 120GB every month just with my wife watching TV NZ online.

Telecom zero-rates traffic from TiVo's Caspa service, which, being a similar beast to Quikflix, makes it unlikely for Telecom to zero-rate the competition (Telecom are, or at least were, part-owners of the NZ TiVo outfit).

Most don't.

Personally I prefer just having bigger caps rather than restricting my usage to one particular service.
Even watching Quickflix, Netflix, using piratebay etc I rarely come close to my 120GB cap.

A little bit of Googling later and no, Telecom do not zero rate it, but also I turned up this little gem --

“I understand the Australian market is different from ours. Quite simply, this market is quite small and our sporting codes just wouldn’t exist with a Pay TV operator in New Zealand to fund them.”

Wow, it's a good thing we didn't invent rugby or cricket until after pay TV then, eh?

Given there is an iPhone and iPad app for it now, surely they are thinking about it

Seriously though, it is a really good idea. Especially if they can keep up with New releases.

The bets thing for me about it is that kids my kids age (under 3) don’t care or understand what a nw release is.  They are just as happy watching Dora the Explorer from last year as they are watching Postman pat from 1990.
