Right. Now that Sky has lost the golf and it's been picked up by Coliseum, I'm seriously considering signing up. But before I do, I need to know what is the best way to watch it?

I don't want to sit in front of my PC in the back bedroom, nor do I want to watch it on my iPad mini. Ideally, I'd like to just flick on the telly (as before), but I know that this isn't possible without hooking up a laptop/PC or some other device.

I've got Vodafone broadband, Wifi, a PS3 (can the web browser in this be used?), and a heavily specced PC.

One thought I had was to run a USB cable under the house from my PC and into the TV in the lounge.

What are other Coliseum users experiences (streaming/picture quality) and what devices do you use to watch it?

Thanks in advance.

I use the app on Samsung smart tv to watch premier league pass and have found it as good if not better than Apple tv airplay.

I heard collesium media are going to dis-establish primerleagepass app and create new and improved streaming app that incorporates EPL/Soccer/Golf.

they are collobaroting with samsung to start with then will deploy to ios/android.

See google Chromecast. Around $60.
Buy chromecast device (warehouse, NL, Dick smith etc )
Hook up to HDMI port on TV.

Install Chromecast plugin on your copy of chrome browser on your PC.
Then start watching on your PC browser and cast it to the Chromecast.

Bonus is pretty much anything else you can play on your PC/chrome browser can be played via chromecast on your TV.

I have _no_ interest in golf.

If they merge the EPL with golf for a increased price (and Norwich not get promoted), I will cancel my subscription.

Have you tried this yourself and does it definitely work? Some things don't cast well or at all especially streaming media things. See Lightbox for an example.
If you don't want to buy a whole new TV, Samsung do smart Blu-Ray players which can access the same apps as the TV's can. I just got this Sammy unit and I am stoked with it. Fast and easy to use. Even works with HDMI-CEC so I can use my TV remote.

That said, There is no golf app currently. Coliseums golf FAQ page says it should be out mid January.

Thanks for all your replies... you've all been really helpful.

It looks like it's coming down to a new telly (there are some pretty good deals at the moment), or a Blu-ray player... decisions, decisions!!

Sorry - no idea specifically about coliseum sports. But I have streamed lots of other stuff from my PC without issues. So long as a video stream doesn't use flash (and most don't tend to recently as android/apple devices don't like it), streaming should be OK.

Blu-Ray player is a lot cheaper.

Any idea on Panasonic apps? Bit annoying Sammy TV's get everything first, its not like they are 90% of the market. Or are they??  I use a Panny plasma, and Panny BR/HDD recorder. having said that if one day I ended up saving all the hassle and adding a Sammy BR player thats not too bad a solution

If they're collaborating with Samsung, it'll actually be deployed to iOS and "Selected Samsung Devices", not Android.

Why has no regulator slammed Samsung for this crap yet?

This has to be a level of anti competitive behaviour. Shutting out other platforms/TV brands so that they cannot compete equally. If over the coming year, streaming became for the masses, thats quite unfair to the other TV brands, let alone the other stream capable devices. Fair sales get skewed cos its got the app

Samsung are smart.

They partner with local services and have inhouse developers that build the apps for the services. Then they deploy to samsung devices.

They go exclusive because they invest in building apps.

It is anti-compeditive but very smart.

I can't see anything anti-competitive at all with developing your own apps.

Samsung are investing in their platform whilst nobody else is. Yet some people in this thread see that as Samsung being anti-competitive and monopolistic????

Give me a break guys. Go complain to the other manufacturers i.e. those that are not investing in their platforms. You cannot blame Samsung because they have done NOTHING to block any other manufacturers investing in workable app solutions.

Has to be fairly new one though, my UE50ES5500 which I picked up in 2013 from JB Hi-Fi can't get the PLP app. Heck even Huluplus got removed from it a few months back...
