I have a NetSmart cellular broadband connection that runs at 2-4 mb/sec, so is a total waste of time trying to stream movies, so I have been using the following methods to download movies so I can watch them in "real time":
1) torrent downloads
This method is pretty hit and miss really; firstly the only way you can determine the quality of the movie is if there have been any feedback comments, and they are often varied and unhelpful, and secondly, often after downloading the file the dam file wont run! You get error messages about COdex files missing, Windows Media wont run it, so you try VLC, and it still wont run it. Then you search for the missing Codex file and invariable have to buy/subscribe/enter some god dammed scam questionnaire in order to download the missing Codex file, and from many post I have read, that does not solve the problem anyway
2) www.Tubeoffline.com to download streamed movies. This method is even more unreliable than using torrents, and is significantly slower, with a 100mg file usually taking longer to download than a 300mb torrent file. Half of the files I have downloaded wont run, or dont complete the download process.
I'm quite happy to pay a reasonable subscription that would enable me to legally downlaod movies, but I have yet to find a single site that will enable me to without buying the movie at full retail price.
So what legal options have the other 40% of New Zealanders who dont live in Auckland who have slow broadband connections have to watch movies using the internet?
Cheers
