Anybody have Disney+ working OK on their SmartVU X Android TV device?

 

Disney+ say it is not a "supported device" and won't help with the streaming issue I have - nothing plays

 

Whatever I try to watch streams for a split second then stops, yet I can FF and RW and go forwards and backwards with the 10s skip perfectly fine

Hi,

Yup, have had it working fine since I brought the unit.  Watched Disney+ last night, no problems.

Are you using a DNS service?

Nope, no DNS service, US based Disney+ account
SmartVu X device located in NZ

Trying to stream doesn’t work as mentioned above. Trying to cast to it from app results in playing for a 3-4 seconds, going around and around and starting again, with no sound

No other problems with SmartVu X streaming of other apps

Raised a support ticket with Disney. 5-7 business days for a response :/

Only difference I can see is that mine is an NZ based account.  Have you tried it on another device? I have used it on Android phones, iPhones, Laptop (browser) and the SmartVU without problem.

Thx for reply. Yup it plays on browser, iOS devices using same account and same physical location/ internet connection perfectly fine

Haven't subscribed to Disney +, but did notice that it has appeared in the SmartVu Android TV Play Store, so must be a supported app/device combo here. Some weird combination of US based Disney + account and NZ based device?

Assume you have logged out logged in and also unplug the smart vu ?

I had an issue with smart vu and Disney plus when the smartvu over heated, flashed up error 39. Unplugged it, let it cool, logged out of Disney re loaded and back to normal.

Hi there.

I am having exactly the same problem with Disney Plus on our Smart Vu.

NZ based account. Nz based Smart VU. Have tried reinstalllling software everything else I can think of.

All other apps work fine on Smart Vu. Disney plus works fine for us on all other devices???

Did you ever bottom out the problem?

I am also seeing this problem. We have the Smart Vu X. Everything seems to run fine except Disney+. We can open the app and browse the selections but if we play something it will show the first couple of frames and then just stops. If you skip ahead or back it will play about 1 second then stop again. I have checked to make sure the device and apps are up to date. Have also removed and re-installed the app but no change. The annoying thing was it worked when we first subscribed to Disney+ as we watched One Strange Rock and a few similar shows. We have also tried casting Disney+ from our phones to the device but it seems to load the app and then the same playback issue occurs. Has anyone been able to reliably get Disney + working on these devices?

Mine works fine on SmartVu. I recall maybe having an issue... it was a while ago. Try Force stop the app, clear app cache, clear app data and restart the device. Log in again and see if that helps.





I'm not a complete idiot, I still have some parts missing.

I found the issue, in case anyone else is having trouble with this: In the device settings (Not the Disney+ app) set the sound output from "Auto" to "PCM"

 

Now it works.
