Sorry, I've read that three times and I don't understand what you're saying. I'm not sure how it can be running in the background when I open it (in the foreground) to do the initial scan. Can you please rephrase?

When you swipe up from bottom of the Home screen you can see Applics that are running. Can then swipe left and right to switch between them, if swipe up on one it shuts down completely.

If phone has been powered down, or Applic shut down completely will not get Vaccine Pass option, first time run Applic.

Once it has run once, the vaccine pass option will show when it is opened from then on, until phone turned off by power or Applic shut down by swiping up on it from screen showing all the ones running.

Edit: I do not need to open the wallet for it to work, if I open the COVID Applic, swipe up to put in background, then open it again, the show pass option will show up without me going anywhere near the Apple Wallet.

Well, I've found that simply sleeping and waking the phone is enough to make the link show up. I don't have to close, open or otherwise suspend or resume the app; if the link's missing then just press the power button twice in succession, 'log in' to the phone, and bingo.

That's going into the wallet directly pressing power button twice, if I do that as my credit card is in there as well then have to select Pass below it. Where as if I select option from QR scan Applic the Vaccine Pass comes up fully on screen.

Went to lot of places today, left Applic running in background and option came up every time.

It is a bug it not coming up unless right circumstances meet, been there a long time so not sure odds of them fixing it.

I mean the power button on the side. The first press turns the screen off, and the second turns it on again. I don't need to go into Wallet at all.

I created my own NFC tag. Works well. It used to require that you would tag once and it would open then app, and then you would need to tag again to actually add the entry but now it does it with one tap with screen unlocked. Not sure if that was changed in a recent update.

I just use a blank mifare tag i had, nothing too special. A DESFire EV1 4k but have also used a NTAG215. You do need a bit of storage, the payload for mine is 309 bytes so a NTAG213, which is the most common tag I would say, doesn't have enough storage with 144 bytes available.

Using NFC Tools on android to write. Got the payload from a QR code reader app and then appended it to the https://tracing.covid19.govt.nz/scan#data= as record 1 URL, record 2 was an application. You do need to be careful with the URL the app appends https:// for you but other than that it is pretty straight forward.

Thanks for that info, knowing what record types to use was the key ingredient that I was missing (the official specs don't seem to mention them). I now have a Covid Tracing QR code next to my front door and the NFC tag is much faster than scanning the QR code, I don't even have to have the tracer app open!

Thanks so much for this - even I, with crap skills in this kind of thing, managed to get this working without much fuss on an NFC tag I'd bought years ago; will be ideal for work, as they won't put a code at the front door (so as to ensure people don't build up in the foyer), but it's easy to forget to scan the one on my floor...

The only annoyance is having to unlock the phone, unlike using NFC for my credit card; personally, I'd rather it was around the other way - ie having to unlock for using a credit card (given that's a much bigger risk). Is there any way of changing it so it just needs the screen on?

You have a big security hole if your device hasn't been forced to not work without being unlocked or user authorized and at the home screen for payments

Its part of the requirements. Sure, can still pay for McDonald's when the app is open. But need to have it unlocked.

Noticed tonight looking through my Bluetooth exposure checks that I have a lot of matched key counts… maybe 30 over the past week.

Haven’t received any alerts through the tracer app though. I guess they’ve turned off notifications to prevent a “ping-demic”?

No, I got a Bluetooth alert today, my first one ever.

On the contrary. Despite the complete lack of peoples relying on it for some time now, it's about the best we got to warn others around you if you turn positive with an uncontrolled spread.

It's suddenly on the user to advise their contacts manually themselves. There's no more contact tracers to help unless you aren't tech savvy.
But when you fill out the form, instead of needing to remember your movements, the app helps to upload your diary in a single hit.
It interrogates the list against the BT hits and criteria. And pushes them out.

Just because your device has a list of keys. Believe it Doesn't necessarily mean it matched any of yours or met time/strength criteria

Bad timing as I turned off my Bluetooth tracing a few months after after it emerged in this thread the MOH had not used it for months. I guess too late to turn it back on as the horse has bolted already.

The best time was "months ago".  The second best time would be now?

Anybody know when the Bluetooth alert should no longer show up in the app?

I received the alert last week Saturday and it said my exposure date was Wed 23 Feb, so now 11 days. Bright orange full page alert still shows on my app everytime I open it. Thought it might have self cleared after 10 days had passed after the exposure date, as message says to monitor for symptoms for 10 days.

I would have thought 14 days, but also you should be able to dismiss the notification inside the app if you've already seen it.
