Adelaide and potentially all of SA about to get a 6 day lock down

EDIT: Yip: one 6 day NZ style lockdown coming up.

"People will be restricted from going out of their house for a 6-day period. The message is stay at home unless you are accessing essential services or you are essential will not be permitted outside of the home for a 6-day period.

Food purchases will be available, you will be able to leave, one person per household once day to access groceries."

from their Premier:

"We need a circuit breaker to stay ahead of this. We need breathing space for a contact tracing let’s to protect the elderly, to protect the vulnerable, to protect our entire community. That is why, today, I am asking you to rise to the challenge again.

As of midnight tonight we need our community to pause for six days. A series of wide-ranging restrictions will be implemented to significantly reduce mobility in the community to stop the spread, to stamp out this virus."

Hope there won't be massive protests that would undermine what they're trying to achieve ...

Certainly fairly comprehensive  https://7news.com.au/lifestyle/health-wellbeing/sa-covid-restrictions-lockdown-for-adelaide-essential-workers-only-no-exercise-c-1602556

We’re going hard and we’re going early" (now where have I heard that before!).

Two more cases today, bringing the total in the outbreak to 23 over 4 days so far

Not yet exhaustive list includes

  • Pubs, cafes, food courts and coffee shops
  • Elective surgery
  • Open inspections
  • Outdoor sport and physical activity
  • FIFO workers
  • Regional travel
  • Aged care and disability care in lockdown
  • Factories, other than food or medical products, unless necessary
  • Construction industry
  • Holiday home lease or rental
  • Weddings and funerals
  • Outdoor sport
  • Masks mandatory in all areas outside the home

Remaining open

  • Critical infrastructure
  • Supermarkets - with limitations providing specific access for vulnerable community members
  • Medical, including medical health
  • Public transport
  • Airport and freight
  • Petrol stations
  • Financial institutions and post offices
  • Mining, smelting and large factories
  • Childcare for families of essential workers
  • Government where essential

People restricted from leaving their homes for a six day period

This is unreal

and Oklahoma is encouraging all state workers to wear masks, and for an 11pm closing time for all bars and eateries.

OMG, closing bars and eateries at 11pm will help....  That's like having 4 holes in your boat and fixing 1 of them. At least the drunks at midnight won't spread it....

Today it's tripe. Tomorrow it's brains, tendons and blood! When will the madness stops! :)

Why are they testing tripe (cow stomach)?

It's pretty easy to debunk that it was infected here.

If China doesn't want our tripe, I don't think it's going to greatly affect our economy.

Apparently when Europe did this earlier in the year, all that happened was everyone went out early so they finished up by the curfew time,

All it did was simply condense all the mingling into a shorter time period... so probbaly actually made things worse....

Hmmmm Tripe....

A couple of days ago was beef, then Chinese authorities said it was actually Argentinian meat. I wonder if this is the same story but without checking sources - not unheard of.

The irony, you would expect them to get it 100% correct before reporting it Is NZ checking it's imports of food or other products such as frozen stuff etc from overseas too? Obviously they see it as a big risk. E don't know where the source of the 1st Auckland outbreak actually was, and some still believe it was from frozen imports through the coolstore.

SA strain is a superbug https://www.nzherald.co.nz/world/covid-19-coronavirus-why-south-australia-locked-down-new-terrifying-virus-strain-revealed/V3A2VEMAGE2ZB3D654CQATEY7Y/

Yes, a bit alarming to say the least - 1 day incubation, 3 day generation cycle.

Wonder if this is contributing to the surging cases in Europe and the US?

However, worth noting that other experts consider talk of a new strain as speculative at this point.  Suspect it more likely to be the current D614G strain spreading rapidly around the globe.

But cannot draw any firm conclusions without more detailed genomic data.
