Yep Tuesday is benefit day and pension day and still payday for a lot of organisations, so I would quite possibly look at avoiding the shops on Tuesdays!

I would guess people go early in the day on the assumption everything will have been restocked.

Still yet to see a single pack of flour any time I've been.. maybe its all these early risers.

How come when I wear my protective gear like we have all be asked to stop the spread of covid-19 and I go into the bank and instead of praising me they all duck down and the police turn up.

Actually, flour is plentiful. Yes, many are baking, and while there is plenty of flour for restocking, the small packaging wrappers have run out. Retail sales are very low, most goes to small bakeries, takeouts and especially breadmaking. On that it should be ok soon. In another life I was in a financial role for a flour miller, and yes, retail packs were a very small part of our revenue

Ducking down might be praying? Police arriving is perhaps to offer a free self isolation service, hosted by her Majesty the Queen? :-)

There was an article on stuff about the flour situation.

There is plenty of flour, but 'home' size small bags normally make only a tiny percentage of flour sales.

The vast quantity of flour is normally sold by tanker or 25kg sacks for industrial use. So the nut jobs going crazy pre-lockdown stripped the shelves and supplies of the smaller bags (and any larger bags they could find).

There are a couple of suppliers now working overtime to bag smaller quantities for the supermarkets. There were a few pictures a couple of days ago of a supermarket that had been opening large sacks and repacking into 1kg bags in-store.

I reckon it would be a good time to be a weevil - There will be pantry loads of stuff that people stockpiled and never use.

So trying to avoid going shopping. Has any one tried the bidfood at home delivery?

It's a little more expensive but seems to have heaps of stock, and a little out of the ordinary so hopefully want be taking delivery slots from the old folks.

Happy to pay a little more if it's going to deliver a good experience.

Yep - consumers. Limited areas covered but the accepted me. Good selection, and show online stock levels so you shouldn't miss out as long as you buy what's in stock by the looks.

I took my dog for a very enjoyable 5km walk around the neighbourhood yesterday, saw some areas I haven't seen for a few years and even went close to the beach - although of course I didn't set foot on the beach because that would be a bad and dangerous thing.

Was quite surprised about the level of traffic, but is was around the 5pm rush hour so I guess there are essential workers returning home. Glad to be established in the WFH routine for now

Pak n Save Palmerston North had a heap of flour in varying sizes up to 20kg. A large number of people not observing 2m bubbles and took about 15 minutes to get in after waiting outside. Behind me were around 50 or 60 people and this was at 1:30 this afternoon.
