My wifes Oppo read it out to her, my Note 20 just scared the hell out of me with its sound.
Bugger, Level 3 again, understand the need however, especially being based in South Auckland myself and having a family member still attending Papatoetoe High School!

They were in taranaki a week ago. If it is the U.K. version you would think there would be a positive case by now

invisibleman18: Just the news we want 6 days out from our wedding. I guess at least it gives us time to get in touch with the various suppliers to make a plan rather than it being the night before.

We're in Wellington and going to be under half the level 2 gathering limit. So ok in that regard. But some vital people such as photographer and my parents would be coming from Auckland. So would almost have been easier to just get an announcement that means it's all off now rather than potentially not know things until Friday night.

Interesting mine read the notification out aloud - first time IIRC.

My fathers nokia read it out in an American female voice, and flashed the LED. But my samsung note didn't, it just had an alarm. My iphone just vibrated with a full screen message.

IMO , it sounds like the possibility of moving up levels for Auckland. Level 3?, and maybe level 2 for the rest of NZ? Basing this on it likely being the UK or SA version and what has happened in Perth. Guessing it will occur on Monday.

At least it was a fairly predictable announcement. Guessing they are concerned there maybe others out there that are positive and have not been tested, and whether they have been involved in gatherings. It really relies now on people being tested to find other cases. 3 days does sound short considering the time delay in getting people out to be tested, and the time delay in tests being done. I haven't been follow testing numbers recently but guessing they have been reasonably  low in the community up until a few weeks ago. Scan Scan Scan.

Takes up to 14 days, and some possible outliers. I understand the UK strain is more contagious, and maybe more deadly,  but don't think it displays symptoms any sooner. https://www.businessinsider.in/science/news/uk-coronavirus-variant-could-be-more-lethal-than-original-strain-possibly-by-up-to-70-percent-scientists-say/articleshow/80906286.cms

3K a day.

But they don't want broad (nee panic) testing right now. Slows down the Targeted surveillance - due to circumstances. The school. Those who went to supermarket. And so forth

They've been cautious since wed last week. She's not been at work since 5th. And the order as yet unknown. So need to cover off that likely infection period rather than weeks worth right now

Easier to do in blocks of 3 days than a week at a time for political reasons as both lockdowns before were to supposedly stop this 3rd one happening.

Anyone who had some sense of history or medical knowledge about viruses would know that it was going to be a 2 year issue and that there will be another level 3 or 4 alert in june july when winter again

I know but the normal incubation period is around 5 days. If it was going to be a big outbreak in taranaki you would expect at least 1 case by now

Great that you aren’t in Auckland. It’s only for three days so there’s still hope it may open up. When the news came out,was wondering if you were in Auckland. Never mind...it will make the wedding more memorable and something to tell the grandkids.

the 2 people who travelled in the same car as the couple tested negative ,so Taranaki might have just dodged a bullet and they werent infectious at that stage.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

My pixel wasn't on silent and the alarm was very loud. For the benefit of the deaf, the flash started strobing and the thing vibrated.  If I hadn't been expecting it, my first reaction might have been to throw it out the window.
