There is no requirement to self isolate after a Covid test awaiting for results, and the MoH website and the flyer you get at the time all says this. You are only required to self isolate if you have had symptoms, and the person performing the test will provide you with further information - this is assuming of source that you have actually told them you've had symptoms.

but why not? if your having the test, on some level you or someone else thinks it could be covid, as why else get tested, even if it is the remotest of chances. you should be isolating till you get the results, as should anyone else in your "bubble". if its negative carry on with your life as normal, if its positive at least you and your bubbles movement has been restricted for a few days.

Yes everybody should be self isolating after getting a test. That seems common sense. The issue however is that is not the advice that has been given out for months to everybody across NZ who undergoes a test.

Here's the latest info (2nd Feb 2021) for example from the CCDHB healthinfo site which will be based on being at level 1. A quick sarch shows so much conflicting information across so many sites, and some dbig differences across DHB's. It is understandable how there can be confusion out there.

I too have been very concerned about what happens when case # 27 shows up.

Excel manages - just go to AA, then AB etc

And that is a near word-for-word replica of the Auckland one I linked to earlier. Targeted at low-risk but symptomatic (IE last winters pamphlet)

Within the last 14 days - 'travelled overseas'. We know that is now null and void...

At least they added 'or exiting a quarantine facility'. But it either needs an over-haul. Or the 'verbal direction from the health officer' clauses they all seem to have made clear they over-rule. Of course we don't know what's happening there as few of users here have recently been tested to know what is happening outside the social media frenzy-posters claims.

This isn't unique to NZ and should be entirely expected. It shouldn't happen but it will and always will.

It's been one of the issues internationally, the environment changes and co-ordinated communication becomes confusing for everyone involved.

All flights out should have been cancelled end of.

Put up road blocks etc but hey we will let thousands fly out instead.

So now it could be transferred out of Auckland to where ever they are traveling.

Sorry I cannot see the logic behind that.

What do you do with the people who are stranded. There has to be some aspect of practicality.

Wonder how Aussie is going to deal with the two different vaccines? - Are people going to get to choose, or allocated one at random, or are Higher risk populations going to be given the better vaccine?

Most people will get Astrazeneca as it's being domestically manufactured, it is an acceptable vaccine that is much easier to deploy and they have more of it. People who can't take AZ or who are getting vaccinated early on will get Pfizer

It’s not uncommon. Some countries in Europe are using at least 3 types.

If the possible gestation period for Covid is 14 days why would you have a lockdown for less than 14 days?

COVID will be around for a very long time. Vaccination just minimises the societal harm. The vaccines stop people getting very sick, they don't stop COVID entirely. For most people a more limited efficacy is fine if it stops them having serious consequences to getting sick.

AZ is much easier to deploy than the ones that require ultracold fridges.

MikeB4: @tdgeek it’s interesting and concerning looking at Flightradar24 today and watching the number AirNZ and Jetstar aircraft flying out of Auckland to destinations all around Aotearoa. Never new we had so many important folk here.

Weekends are a very busy time for traveling. There will be somewhere around 6000-7000 people flying out of Auckland on a typical Sunday, and a similar number flying in. Even if 50% of people leaving are no longer allowed that's still a lot of people who need to get out of Auckland to get home.

There were no significant flight cancellations today either - they can't just cancel flights with such short notice.

I did wonder about that, I guess what struck me is the sudden queues. Unless Sunday queues are not unusual? The same with road traffic which was both inwards and outwards, that was also newsworthy. Then again, its NEWS, so perhaps this wasn't anything abnormal, but newsworthy due to the lockdown. I just hope those leaving take due precautions.

Agree. The test result is just a day or so?
