But they don't have that pushing that post story button.
Someone went to work at KFC who's gone positive! Quick, let's be first to break. And then dig for a fault blame afterwards? Yeah, sounds good
Meanwhile a large percentage have the option. A, growl and move on. Or b, run with that, make their own assumption and then start the lynch mob regardless

Oblivian: There are at least 4 different stories over this garbage on heralds front page
Jason is a political reporter that stirred things up at the initial response. Along with others in media, people hold them like a god trying to call out the government for every action regardless
But it's dividing everyone. The work done, and future fight paths. And basically likely to incite rebellion, shaming and abuse when we don't need it. Facey is a vial mess of unfiltered comments on every one of the associated posts - ie 'pressure mounts for PM to apologize to kfc worker..'
This whole focal point just needs to stop. Move on. It was 2 weeks ago. We're here now. Fix it again to go back to where we were. But fear it's too late looking at attitude changes
today's gem, is the police are now involved due the online abuse. Gee. Wonder who stirred that up.
I'm not looking forward to winter...
The media's job isn't to dress up things as fantastic and gloss over bits that don't add up for what people personally believe is 'the greater good'. We've seen time and time again the media's reporting has lead to sweeping changes during this pandemic, when things officials said were happening turned out not to be happening. Had they not reported on them, we would likely be under the 'Worst Case Scenario' outlined today in Stuff. You and I and everyone else owe that to what is a small group of reporters who didn't just blindly repeat what they were told as absolute truth. That's the media's job, and they're doing it.
And I'm sorry, but elected public officials using a huge platform to rebuke people who their own agencies later confirm have followed the instructions they were given at the time isn't exactly great for unity either.
I do agree about Facebook, however. You know it's bad when Simon O'Connor starts expressing concern at the sheer volume and veracity of misinformation about the vaccines on his posts.
A lot of people are making generalisations about "the media". Fake news clickbait outfits like NZME and Stuff have a very different reporting style from the likes of RNZ or Newsroom.
As for Facebook, I think this is an excellent demonstration of the societal damage that it is doing. The world would be a better place without it.

I'm not looking forward to winter...Social media is just one big hate group now, especially when it comes to any post about stories such as these that allows comments. I'm really not sure how we fix this.
Last night we had another rumour spreading like wildfire online about a new reported case (which I'm not going to detail here but I'm sure some would have seen it) which has further added to the panic. I'm not sure what the best thing to do is under such a scenario - should we immediately have press releases sent out to deny such rumours of they are not true? Will media reporting such things to try and shut down misinformation merely make things worse?
We've moved to a clickbait driven media where provoking outrage delivers clicks and eyeballs. I'm not sure how we ever go back from that.
As somebody who's been a news junkie my whole life I find the state of NZ media and our 6pm news broadcasts now such a trainwreck. I find it refreshing to watch content such as SBS World News to actually understand what is happening in the world.

So what? You're not talking about having a cop watching them. You're talking about burning the heretics.
As I said in my post fines do work for on the spot offences, not once you get into contact tracing. I've seen the practical effects.
Incidentally you still haven't answered who is the "affected population".
Scott3:
Pfizer is cranking with the vaccine delivery. MOH was only advising that there first doses were expected in Quater 2. We are still 4 weeks from that and Pfizer has already filled 13% or our order.
If they keep up 65,500 doses a week, our 1.5m dose order will be exhausted in just 20 weeks time. I think we should order more...
Ministry of health is going to need to seriously crank up distribution. The average so far of 3,000 vaccinations a week is 20x less than the delivery rate. Would be sad if we had to ask Pfizer to defer delivery because our ultra-cold freezers are full.
Anyway having a decent stock of vaccine in the freezer is a nice problem to have...
Hopefully some thought will be given to vaccinating the realm nations fairly soon. (perhaps after the border worker, their families and front line medical staff). Would be really great for them to be able to re-open travel with us, and a total population under 20,000 means the demand on our vaccine stock is not that high.

One of the themes coming from this latest cluster is an us and them attitude. All Aotearoa need to remember the words and meaning of this song.....
Tūtira mai ngā iwi,
tātou tātou e
Tūtira mai ngā iwi,
tātou tātou e
Whai-a te marama-tanga,
me te aroha - e ngā iwi!
Ki-a ko tapa tahi,
Ki-a ko-tahi rā
Tātou tātou e
Tā-tou tā-tou e E!!
Hi aue hei !!!
In English......
Line up together people
All of us, all of us
Stand in rows people
All of us, all of us
Seek after knowledge
and love of others - everyone
Think as one
Act as one
All of us, all of us
All of us, All of us!!
Hi aue hei !!!

I think someone mentioned earlier that the MOH is waiting for IT tech to wipe a program to track who gets/gotten vaccines and that's what's holding it up... Iirc...
Last August the Govt apporoved a replacement for the old NIR (national immunisation register). This platform is NIS (national immunisation solution).
It was a requirment to have something in place for the Covid vaccine rollout as the old NIR simply couldn't support this. While NIS is not yet complete, a temporary solution is in place that has allowed the Covid rollout to start and start collecting the data.
And for todays prime example of what is been given a stool that doesn't/shouldn't need to be
Covid 19 coronavirus: Destiny Chur..
No. Read no further. It shouldn't even be categorized in the pandemic topical group like that. Just no.

This happened during the original lockdown. I understand the PM has called for people to do this because of all the flouters, and the frustration that people weren't doing what they should be doing. . Which is better, very strict police enforcement and huge fines like in Australia?

So no new cases, that's encouraging? Nothing showing up on waste-water tests but still a few important test to come in.
Sounds like another lucky break with the community spread not getting as far ahead of us as it conceivably could have.
