Seems like international passengers are down 18% YoY at Auckland. Certainly a big hit to numbers, but there will still be a good proportion of foreign tourists in the remaining 82%.
Tourists don't generally just book a week or two ahead - especially long haul. Future bookings tell the story:
Article on RNZ news:
Managing Director Nomad Safaris in Queenstown, Dave Gatward-Ferguson said he was starting to feel the global reach of Covid-19.
"In March we're tracking around about a third down at the moment. The worrying thing is we're getting more and more cancellations from the non-Chinese markets, and we're not seeing the level of inquiries we'd expect," he said.
...
Over the hill, Wanaka Parasailing owner Jeno Hezinger said his international bookings had plunged 65 percent.
"It's completely died. We've got no customers at all. No bookings. The lake is pretty much empty, the water activities are empty," he said.

Would it be too much to ask that this courtesy was applied to leaders of other countries as well? I doubt many of his friends refer to the Australian Prime Minister as "ScoMo" and I often see here references to "Humpty Trumpy" as well as someone a few pages back hoping that he caught Covid-19. I understand that they aren't our elected leaders, however we Kiwi's aren't the only ones that frequent the site, and I certainly feel it lowers the tone of the conversation when we take the mickey or wish others ill health.
You make an interesting point but I would submit that there are other factors at play here. The office of leader commands inherent respect. Any respect shown to the occupant of the office is merely a reflection of that. If the occupant behaves in a way undeserving of respect, the occupant may subsequently be disrespected without the office being diminished.
The Prime Minister of Australia has lost much respect because of insensitive behaviour such as going on holiday during the bush fires. The President of America is an utterly despicable human being who has repeatedly shown himself to be unworthy of the office he holds. In both cases the character of these individuals is reflected in the way they are addressed. Any disrespect is aimed entirely at the persons, not the office. In the case of the USA, no-one has insulted the officeholder more grievously than the late-night comedians who are mostly citizens of that country. It is extremely unlikely that anyone will encounter anything more shocking on Geekzone.
The Prime Minister of this country may or may not be a good leader. She may or may not make bad judgement calls. But she has been tested and shown herself to be a person of exceptional character. She has earned the right to be respected and she deserves to be addressed in a manner commensurate with that.

I have clients from the UK flying in on Tuesday and will be with them travelling round NZ for almost 3 weeks - unless they are prevented from coming. There is nothing I can do to stop them coming. It has been booked for 6 months at least. 2 weeks after that I have 5 clients from the USA due in unless that gets prevented by NZ or the USA. 3 weeks after that, I am flying to YVR then LAX which, if I am still alive by then, I may well cancel unless there has been a dramatic turnaround in the coming few weeks.

Great sense of timing. Good luck with it all in any case.

We have very few restrictions. I dont know why the PM keeps saying we are one of the most stringent in the world. Your UK people have free reign here as does the US ones. We only would ask them to self isolate from four countries. China, Iran, Italy and South Korea. Everywhere else is free entry if they feel well. That will change this weekend.
If they needed to self isolate if there was a change in restrictions this weekend, would they?

I don't fall into any of those groups nor do I have any pre-existing medical conditions.
In my head I think it's fairly safe to visit the US. It's only for a week and won't be going to any supermarkets haha.
My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.
PM live on TVNZ.

In that case, just go. You’ll probably have the time of your life.
Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.
