Someone has made a website which looks like it works on the same concept as Gaspy but in regards to queue lengths to get into a Supermarket

https://howlongistheline.org/

NZ Herald mentions it, the site I believe has since crashed as nothing loads.

I used it around 1 pm today, sort of successfully,  but it couldn't get my location from Firefox on android when I tried to update it, so it wouldn't accept my input.

With all due respect, there's too many 'paranoid' but physically able shoppers using online shopping and, as a consequence, making it difficult for the elderly and medically vulnerable to get their deliveries.

Yes this. My other half is immuno-compromised and we are both in the older age group, although not hit 70. Have yet to find a delivery slot for either the local New World, or Countdown. I went and did a physical shop this morning.

Countdown has a priority assistance service

https://shop.countdown.co.nz/shop/content/priority-assistance

I helped an elder relative sign up for it but we haven't actually tried to buy anything yet since they are pretty fully stocked. Short on milk but will wait for more items to shop before trying to get a slot.

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd  PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.

I tried signing up for it but so far no response.

EDIT - I went to the site and although I have not received confirmation by email etc, when I logged in I was confirmed as having Priority status, so well done Countdown. I put an order in and if that works out well when it comes on Wednesday, that is me done with going to the shops during this period.

They were already approved within 24 hours

[UPDATE]  Just did a shop for them online.  Placed the order today (Tuesday at 11am) and got a delivery slot 6-8pm Thursday going to Khandallah. That seems very reasonable. Delivery cost $15.

Google maps already does this.   Click on the supermarket & scroll down & it will show a live view in pink saying how busy it is compared to normal & an estimated wait time.   They only started showing an estimated wait time a few days ago.   People should only be going to supermarkets reasonably close to home, so I can't see the point of an app like Gaspy.

Bidfood order just arrived.

Other than being a little careful about unit size - they are definitely a wholesale supplier - recommended.

Again - prices are a little higher than you would expect to see in the supermarket, but they have an excellent selection, and tell you whats in stock right online.

Minimum $200 order which might be an issue for some.

I have 5 supermarkets which I would consider local plus 4 Asian supermarkets

Wife went to Mt Roskill New World yesterday, there were only 2 in line, at around 3pm. They were doing one out one in, but she wasn't very happy with how many people were inside, nor the fact it was nearly impossible to get things without being closer than you should be.

I passed feedback to the manager.

Went to Pak'nSave, Clendon this morning. It opens at 7am, got there at 6:45 am and was about number 50 in a line up of 80.

No 2 metre gaps between customers, Check Out operator let out a huge sneeze when serving me (automatically thought that could be my death sentence).

Walked out at 8 am with groceries and saw no one lining up to get in.

Worked fine with me at Royal oak.  Spent 10 minutes in my car reading a book while waiting for the text

Used the google maps prediction thingy and went to the local (one of the) countdown at midday. There was a queue of 4 or 5 so pretty quick to get in.

I wanted to go earlyish to get bread. The wife couldn't get any last week and I needed to get a few loaves since I have 2 growing boys who plough through it like daddy's a baker.

They had everything, even flour has returned, although not much was left.

People were pretty good at keeping their distance and only a couple people doing were the mask thing.

Yup similar experience for me at Royal Oak, except wait wasn't even 10 minutes, maybe 5.

Wife tried it on Saturday and said it was great. she waited about 18 minutes.

Would be nice if the txt message mentioned what number in the queue you were.
