Everyone can calm the farm now. The googe/page story has been cleared up. Goes to show how much trigger happyness can stir things up.

Raises many questions - most of which probably aren't particularly relevant to this forum / thread, but quite capable of becoming a major distraction.  Maybe start a thread in the politics forum.

Got my second dose a few days ago. No side effects.

Hopefully there will be no outbreaks before everyone has had the opportunity to get vaxxed. If delta gets loose in the community now we're in for either a lot of deaths or a decent stretch of level 4.

Looking at the book of faces update for the 55+ today, a few people have re-scheduled or changed their timing now it has opened up. Some cat3s with late bookings re-doing them at a different location earlier now they are in the age brackets. And others are using it as an opportunity to widen out the gap. That'd mix things up a bit.

My first L3 jab is 12 Aug, I'll be a bit miffed if that or the second are "sorry ran out" if many are jumping in (I also support jumping in). Im not going to add to that by calling in and getting a jab today which I probably could do

From ABC:

Experts have warned nowhere is safe from Delta COVID-19 transmission, after infections linked to an outdoor gathering at a beach near Newcastle plunged the Hunter and Upper Hunter into lockdown.

...

Professor McLaws, an advisor to the World Health Organization, said the Delta variant was so highly contagious that people were producing 1,000 times more viral particles in their respiratory tract, compared to other strains.

These included large droplets as well as tiny aerosol particles.

"We now need to understand that we are potentially at great risk of aerosol or airborne particles, those tiny droplet nuclei, that can hang in the air for longer if there's no wind, and that means that you can be at risk outside, not just inside," she said.

There's more detail in the article which throw some doubt as to how the P2P transmission actually occurred (ie people could have car shared or had close personal contact at the beach etc).

Well that's the kind of logistic disaster they'll need to be 100% sure about avoiding if they open up shots on demand at vaccination centres.

At this stage if you can "jump in" and are really concerned - just do it.  OTOH 12 August is pretty close.

I note that Medsafe (revised - to include >12YO) provisional approval now states "a course of 2 doses at least 21 days apart".

I could be wrong and am thinking of pfizer's original spec not Medsafe, but think that Medsafe's data used to be stated as  definite interval of 3 - 6 weeks between shots.

It seems to be getting clearer that a longer spacing is certainly no worse, but may be better...

It is very interesting that the Mass vaccination event in Auckland #2 is 10,11,12 September  - 6 weeks after the first... now whether this is driven by venue availability or medical decisions isn't clear, but when they were looking at doing it in early July, the follow up was scheduled for the end of July., ie 3-4 weeks later

Mission Pfizer-1 accomplished.

Flicked over to the TV news at 6 this morning which reminded me that today I became eligible.  Got on to the booking process which took about 3 minutes.  Stabbing was done by lunch-time.  Didn't have to wait.  All appears to run as a well-oiled machine.

Did Eric Clapton really think she looked wonderful...or was it after the 15th outfit she tried on and he just wanted to get to the party and get a drink?

If they run out, it's only affects you if (a) you're intending to travel overseas in the next 5 weeks, or (b) we get covid CT in NZ.

But it seems more likely that they're not getting overwhelmed with injectee-wannabees.

Yep online booking site was easy and quick.
You can browse dates and times and find one that suits.
Though did not have a smaller closer vaccination center listed, so booked big one 10min further down the road.
Pretty quick, and small groups cycled through as bookings spaces out arrivals.
Very smooth, 1st one done.

I honestly don't know what they can do except lockdown even harder. The current lockdown is obviously not working. I thought it had the opportunity to get out of control just over a week ago, I believe now its going to be almost impossible for NSW to get back to Zero Covid this year.

  Premier Gladys Berejiklian:

“I do want to foreshadow that given this high number of cases, we are likely to see this trend continue for the next few days"

Every day for 6 weeks she either has, or could have or should have said almost exactly the same thing.

It's an abject lack of leadership and failure to heed advice from experts.  Blaming it all on "Delta" - which she mentions multiple times in every press conference is deflection.

Cases are spreading across NSW, they're leaking from NSW, and they're putting all of Australia (and NZ) at severe risk.

IMO she should either resign or step back and let someone more capable and less influenced by the political bunfight take charge.

Well, they could actually lockdown for a change. I'm sure there are masses doing the right thing, but plenty clearly arent.

1. Lockdown 4.0 minimum

2. Purchase order for handcuffs and cell space as a potential outbreak risk. Remanded on bail once we get round to testing you

Australian PM seems to be adopting his usual response to crises.  Completely MIA - except for occasional pressers written by PR consultants.  He's probably counting Olympic medals and trying to figure out how he can take take all the glory for that success, but the blame for nothing to do with Covid.
