MadEngineer:

Batman: Walk in vaccine in Akl

https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/covid-19-coronavirus-people-getting-vaccine-early-despite-not-being-eligible/5WZY2VRDHLF7UBWP3Q6EEL43VM/
I've pointed this out earlier and it's not limited to Auckland.  It's possible to walk in at the right time and score a spare without being eligible.

Really don’t see a problem with this. Would they rather the vaccine get wasted and thrown out? Get it in as many arms as possible IMO.

I don’t disagree with the walk-ins. A large proportion of my workmates have made use of it.

Pretty much at this point, New Zealand should open up vaccinations.

Make use of the "unused" large campervans and set up mobile vaccination clinics in the suburbs / towns?

I'm sure people would come like they do to Mr Whippy!

No point telling here - any way of telling the PM/CH/AB? Anyone with contacts ... journalists....

I think most of us are on the same page here. I've been trying to doomsday prep people where I can, saying I don't see the country going any less than regional or full 4 as soon as there is an index case

Progress of Delta is the total of the nature of the virus, and behavior of the host.
The age of individual responsibility meets necessity for group responsibility. Sigh...
I suppose looking at the Billy TK and other distractions modelers are not optimistic, but you can fight it back down.

Taiwan
So you have Delta, you have a very high population density, very slow vaccination program ( because ) etc.
You are toast aren't you. Just toss in the towel.

Taiwan reports 6 local COVID cases, no deaths  ( 539 cases May 17th )
Nation reports fewest local COVID cases in 3 months
https://www.taiwannews.com.tw/en/news/4264685

""
Chen pointed out that among the 14,522 cases announced between May 11 and Aug. 3, 13,001, or 89.5%, have been released from quarantine
""

Its a grind but they are steadily reducing restrictions and wrestling this down even with slow rate of vaccination.

Act fast, provide support, in case of masking they helped people get ration of quality PPE, and ramped their own production.
People not fussy over wearing them etc.
Buying themselves time to find ways around vaccine supply blockages.

This was just on the news. Rates have tripped in the last 2 days in some areas as a result.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/covid-vaccine-proof-italy-green-pass/

Seems they opened their doors up to tourism again. And now a heap of people are stuck with nothing to do as a result.

With nothing to do

Of the 2 American tourist families they interviewed. None were vaccinated. There are armed police checking for the green passport at restaurant areas and tourist attractions

No negative test within 48hrs, and no vaccination green card = no entry.

The pass, which is an extension of the EU’s digital Covid certificate, is required to be served indoors at restaurants and to enter stadiums, museums, theatres, cinemas, exhibition centres, swimming pools and gyms.

Best public hand sanitiser dispenser I've ever seen, in fact that only one that I'd label properly-designed:

On the US CDC site monitoring covid variants from sequencing, "Lambda" is still being crushed by Delta variant.  Lambda is still making headlines where cases are being picked up around the planet.

There is a variant from Delta strain, classified as Delta AY.3. It's share of infections is growing and holding up against Delta, now about 10% of overall cases, estimated Delta including categorised delta variants is about 93% of all cases.  Actual (as opposed to "Nowcast" estimates) below:
