cshwone:

It looks like the LOI for Wellington are only from the person(s) who flew back Sunday and lives in J'ville.

Absolutely nothing from the person(s) who drove back and are apparently in Miramar. Surely it can't be that difficult!

FWIW, according to news reports I have seen and read, two (live in Miramar) flew back, one (in Johnsonville) drove.

The J'ville places of interest are from the person (~18 year old?) who drove back.

There is one 'location' of interest so far for the Miramar couple(*) - "Flight NZ 445 Auckland to Wellington, 5pm-6pm"

Wellington airport ~6pm will possibly get added later?  The depends what transport home

(* Think I saw/heard it was a couple though cannot find a link to that at the moment).

Thanks for that clarification.

@sbiddle I disagree with giving them time, they managed to get the J'ville stuff out last night, what's the big hold up for Miramar. All it needs is a few close contacts who should have been isolating but didn't know to do their weekly supermarket shop this morning...............................

I understand the anxiety about not knowing locations of interest, it’s really frustrating when you hear some details (or rampant speculation) but can’t get the full picture. That said, I’m sure there’s a reason for the delay in these being released. Wouldn’t surprise me if the person hasn’t been using the app/scanning QRs and doesn’t even know their own LOIs.

As for the Stuff article - that gentleman is a plonker. Of course they can’t say who the case is. Having been called by contact tracers, they do tell you when to get tested and what to do. I can’t believe he’s been given airtime to complain about nothing.

I some how think Steve's comment was tongue in cheek.

I was being sarcastic about giving them time - the reality is right now we're dealing with an absolute shambles when it comes to getting out locations of interest.

We've got so many potential superspreader events and don't even have Friday night's Bayleys conference at Spark arena on the list yet.

I suspect you're on the money.

Is that's the case why don't they come out and say the delay in publishing the LOI's is due to people not scanning or recording where they've been. It would be a good way to reinforce the need to scan. Then again so many people are so apathetic they probably don't care that they don't know the LOI's.

I know in Wellington the Bluetooth tracing identified huge numbers of contacts (I know two people who got pinged as a result).

The fundamental problem is that we just don't know who contacts actually are due to the privacy model of the app.

Did none of you watch the prime minister's briefings over the last couple of days ?
The exact question of delay related to LOIs came up

The PM's answer: if LOIs are rushed out with wide brackets of time and then later corrected, for either time or location, a lot of people are forced into unnecessary tests.

What do you want? Fast information or accurate information?

Yeh, at least with places Google Streetview can trigger memory.

If you are not scanning and many places including Petrol Stations don't give you receipts unless you ask, if you even keep them.

Nailing times may be tricky, depending on payment method.

New C19 test can give results in just 3 minutes and is just as accurate as a PCR

https://www.euronews.com/next/2021/08/17/this-new-covid-test-can-give-results-in-just-3-minutes-and-it-s-just-as-accurate-as-a-pcr

"The analysis showed RTF-EXPAR’s sensitivity is equivalent to quantitative PCR testing, with a positive predictive value of 89 per cent, and a negative predictive value of 93 per cent," said Professor Andrew Beggs from the University of Birmingham.

"... should be much cheaper than laboratory-based tests

"To speed up the process while remaining accurate, the Birmingham researchers created a new RNA to DNA conversion process that avoids reverse transcription  ..."

Shopping @ NZ Wigram this morning:

Orderly 8 people waiting @ opening time. (Apparently there were about 200 people waiting for PaknSav Hornby to open)

Actually saw some other people scan the QR Code!

Everyone had a mask on while waiting / In Store.

Same shortages as last time (Junk food / biscuits / flour / sugar etc)

Limit of 2 on bread.

Plenty of fresh fruit and veges.

Lots of non-usual at that hour etc shoppers by the time I left.

Not a bad experience at all. Hats off to ALL the Staff!
