It might be just me but I'd far rather read something than watch a video for this sort of information. Videos are good but written word has its place.

I agree it can be hard to explain the facts without the recipient having prior knowledge, but it has to be done and it can be done. The prior knowledge has to be presented in everyday language as well.

I've spent a good deal of my life educating ab initio students in an area that requires some degree of technical knowledge and more latterly writing manuals taking in depth technical data and making it so that it can be clearly understood by a lay person.

I know from personal experience that it's possible to provide a good layman's description and we really need it right now.

It's not just you - I hate them too. Especially when it means trying to scroll through a 1/2 hour video to find the snippet of information you really need, like when you're disassembling a doo-dacky to DIY fix it and there's a hidden fastener you can't find. Might take 20 seconds if you had an exploded diagram but a right royal PITA to find it on video.

Some may not like them

But for the majority, that is everyones 'research'

I've even seen people try and direct people to google a local PMs (ex leader of Conservatives) name about 'the truth' him and his wife do livestreams for. Needless to say they lose credibility when you realise they are on the new alternate youtube for extremists.

1431 new cases in NSW, 12 deaths.
There are currently 979 COVID-19 cases admitted to hospital, with 160 people in intensive care, 63 of whom require ventilation.

35% of yesterday's cases were infectious in the community.

89,700 doses administered yesterday. Of those, 64,000 are first doses.

If you have an appointment for your jab booked but you have already had it please cancel it so other people can use the appointment.

I think that video only is a error, you need both.

Some people are Ok with Cartoons, Some like Video Interview or Seminar, Some some clear text with curated links.

Its a missed opportunity if people go there for prime source of information and find they have to start searching again.
Then pick up an official looking dubious website, and then...

The official known Government websites should cover all .

TeaLeaf: Can someone please give me a good "fact" link on the situation with SpikeProteins and the vaccines, anything on the WHO site or something similar perhaps? Thank you. I know a person who has read some random info online about it and is fearful to get vaccinated. Sigh. I think possibly this may be one of the biggest problems that the globe faces with vaccine uptake. The old saying, don't believe everything you read etc.

I've created a topic under the politics section for vaccine discussion.

Not sure if it's a good idea - I'm sure the mods will say so if it's not

Speaking of Vaccines, the PM's "next day or two" to update us on getting additional supplies is now 5 days and counting...

+ During the Week Australia have done swap deals for 4.5 million pfizer doses, ( 500K from Singapore and 4m from the UK)

If the rollout has to scale back there will understandably be some blow back....

They expect the numbers to peak in the next two weeks. Makes you wonder what the peak might be?
