Just stunned at the attitudes of people celebrating that they managed to 'sneak in' before the rules came in that provided for the safety of the wider population. 

I'm also totally bemused by the 'toughest-in-the-world-but-not-really' rules that PM Ardern said we had to go early and hard on being immediately flexible to allow more people to get home, in a way that totally defeated the point of doing and saying so. 

I guess we're in the critical phase now. It just takes one more rogue dance teacher who's too special to self-isolate to render these rules totally inadequate and kick off a round of community spread. 

If it is circulating here already (and given Aus. is further along than anyone wants to care to admit and our virtually open boarders with them) then we are still likely to see the same upswing over the next two weeks. 

Unfortunately we have to sit back and wait. And hope people don't panic buy, that they don't get bored with washing their hands properly or taking sensible precautions. I think those amongst us who subscribe to the massive-ute-driving, I-don't-have-to-merge, not-indicating-off-roundabouts attitude to life will be our undoing.

The irony here is palpable. May I ask have you seen the news? We have international travelers boasting how they beat the restrictions.

I don't care to judge others, I've spent my money on some pretty trivial pursuits in my time that probably bemused most sane onlookers. 

I do care that we have patted ourselves on the back for going 'hard and fast' despite not being that harsh and almost immediately compromising on it.

You would need to ask all the lawmakers (current Government and National who was in support) and Ministry of Health, why there was a lead time. Announcing it doesnt mean its automagically all ready to go

There is a form that everyone has to fill in. No need to get a printer company on the job, just design it, print it out, phtocopy it 2000 times, email it to the other airports that take international flights. Not a massive job but not a 5 minute job

We cant have a situation of please fill in this form and pop it in that box. It will be a manual process, so that every form is filled in and its accurate, we will need to contact extra staffers for this work. Again, not a big job. but many phone calls to get that set in place at short notice.

We need to decide on a process to manage this extra and slow workload and have everyone up to speed and ready to work at midnight Sunday. 

Or, we announce that at 10am Monday there will be an announecment, after all this admin stuff has been done, and at 10am today this is what it is, and it takes effect now

End of the day, our Government and main oppositon party and Ministry of Health must have asked the question, can we make it immediate. For whatever reasons, the answer was no

I wonder if that's best done after the fact. We are clearly heading for a massive problem - what we could have done isn't going to change the problem we (likely) have now.

RBNZ announcement at 8am. Formal OCR review was scheduled for 25th so to bring it forward suggests a question of financial stability. Comment from a friend in the industry suggest -0.5bps is getting priced in. 

I think we need to concentrate on these bits in the immediate future and the Govt package for now.

Bolded, I think you mean PM Adern, the National Party acting non partisan for the benefit of NZ and the Ministry of Health

Second para. The weekend announcement was an upgrade to travel restrictions, all of the points you mentioned are not new and were not part of the weekend announcement, nor would they suddenly become an issue as at 1-30pm Saturaday

Apparently not, ask them why. And you know why it was moved to 1am, so I wont waste any ink explaining that to you. You shoudnt make light of a serious situation NZ is in. Its not a Tui ad, well not to most of us

The RBNZ is announcing at 8am and the actual press conference is at 11am.

Clearly designed to get ahead of the market opening. I'm no monetary policy wizard but that suggests a huge potential issue with perceived stability.
