The wonkers have just been named. Everyone already knew it. They also apologised. Gee, that makes it all okay.

GV27:

Feel it's a bit much to put it back on Aucklanders for not being vaccinated when the earliest Group 4 could book in some cases for their first was November.

Who are these people that can't get vaccinated for their first until November?

Perhaps that might have been true a few weeks ago, but right now I can search on-line and get multiple Auckland appointments tomorrow and most are in walking distance or a short drive. Boss won't give time off work? There are plenty of appointments this weekend. If someone has a November appointment, they can get a new appointment this week, then once vaccinated, they can cancel their November appointment and book their second shot for some time in mid or late October.

You need to read his post, he has a point. My only issue is backlash against Aucklanders. That I believe was his point. "multiple Auckland appointments tomorrow" isnt much help right now...

"Elimination is the best strategy and we will continue to use that, until vaccination is complete" from PM today at the presser

Yes the message seems like it might be starting to change, at least from the PM. I think that is a good thing - it will take some time to carefully warm the public up to the idea of moving away from elimination, when the time is right.

A lawyer and a judge's son certainly very well understood the rules. A $4000 fine is not likely to be very noticeable so namimg and shaming is probably the best deterrent for others thinking of doing the same. Would think fraudulently using your credentials to break the law might be grounds for being disbarred as a lawyer.

Wow. Its not great. They will probably have repercussions in the legal industry. Let it go. This is 2021 NZ not 1421 medieval. We have real blame culture here.

When Group 4 opened up, there were far fewer slots than there are now. I moved mine when the chemist up the road started doing them, but that wasn't an option when it became open to everyone. I didn't even bother booking when I first looked.

I didn't know.

I'm wondering if the lady lawyer will be struck off. She ought to be.

Amazing sideshow, however I would hope that the media and the City put immense effort into getting people to testing in those suburbs and to receive the 500k vaccines available. (really that means the entire akl can complete the first dose by this week, minus those who won't).

These are people of at least average intelligence and above average education. There is no way they could not have known they were doing wrong. They made a cynical, calculated decision to flout the law, believing they were above it and would not suffer any consequences. They were blinded by their overwhelming sense of privilege and entitlement. They believed their own satisfaction mattered more than following the rules. There are no mitigating circumstances.

I hope the era of special privileges for the well-connected is well and truly over here. These people should go to jail for at least a week. That would be sufficient to teach them a real lesson. It doesn't have to be a long time. For people like this, any jail time would be the shock they need. I don't know if this is what will happen, but it is what I hope will happen.

I don't know where this is placed in the Law council code of conduct, but I doubt it is a debarrable offence. The rugby player who assaulted someone got a discharge without conviction so he can carry on smashing people (legally) on the field.

This post is definitely an offence against the English language.

Frizzells conduct is entirely irrelevant.

Willfully and deliberately breaking the law ought to get any lawyer struck off.

Making a false declaration to a Police Officer.
Creating and presenting possibly falsely created document with intention to deceive.
That you were crossing the border as essential workers for the purpose of specific essential work.
Seriousness of the Covid outbreak regulations and potential lethal consequences of the actions.

Its not 'Goodbye Pork Pie', if infectious they could have given people at Hamilton Airport,
on the Plane, and in Wanaka a potential lethal disease.
Potentially costing the economy many millions of dollars if rest ot North island and South Island had to go to level 4.

Being a Lawyer you can't even claim ignorance, unless you are also claiming you are unqualified to be a lawyer.
