Agree with not rushing. Normal proper approval process should be followed. But I do think this should be one of the things at the top of the priory list for both medsafe and the goverment (if resourcing is the hold up).

The current vaccine project was to complete end of 2021. Maybe opening up sometime in the first half of 2022, maybe earlier. The trial and approval for the wee ones doesnt need to be super soon. If it was granted, Id say the rollout could be quite quick. A 90% of the total population could happen and be a strong part of an opening up process.

If the 6-12 year old approval is immediately granted by the FDA that will likely be in November. That would make Christmas the earliest Medsafe would approve it in NZ. If it doesn't get approved by Christmas it could be mid February before there is an approval for NZ. NZ will probably run out of people to vaccinate en masse by Christmas so that should line up.

This interview turns into a bit of a mess. First Up speaks to Dr Adalja and Professor Michael Baker.
Dr Adalia is clearly anti lockdown.

So where is the transfer happening? I'm concerned families must be intermingling.

We've been told there hasn't been any spread in essential workers. There hasn't been any reports of shops closing & going through a deep clean like happened in the original lockdown when transfer was suspected.
I would have thought if spread has been happening at the supermarket we would have heard more from the PM reminding us to sanitise before using a trolley, trying to reduce the number of times we go to the supermarket etc.

The medical people are now saying that you don't get it off trolleys and touching items in the supermarket and hand santising is not as important. You get it when someone close by spreads droplets. So deep cleans are not needed as much, just regular enhanced cleaning.

I wonder if the front page every day of the newspaper will be about Covid breeches and naming and shaming as there is another 3 and more to come no doubt.

Or we could make them stand in public and we can throw rotten fruit at them instead

Oh right I hadn't heard that. I figured the airborne transmission was in addition to surface transfer.

The Herald have a live blog embedded in their story about the new exposure locations outside of AKL (watch the panic)

With a poll on jabbed vs not. Probably a small market right taking notice and polling, but the 'nos' are already bordering 9%

Truck driver is just a result of practical necessity, and why you want regular testing.
Ideally more regular testing now we have saliva tests.
Seems tracing and masking are all in place.
Toilets are a problem, drivers reporting with service areas closing toilets and councils closing public toilets.
What are they expected to do ?

It would be nice if we added a date by which any essential border crossing workers must show at least one vaccination.
Vaccinations seem to be so available in Auckland now that getting one should not be a problem.
Victoria is already doing this with construction workers, show at least one vac by Sept 23 or work stops.

Victoria 514 cases... Its not getting better.
Modest easing of Victoria's COVID lockdown rules to kick in from Friday night as state records 514 new COVID cases
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-09-16/victoria-covid-cases-deaths-vaccination-restrictions/100465744

70% of eligible seems too low a target in the face of delta infectivity, it could be less than 60% total infectible population.

We need and want over 90% vaccinated. Not sure if that's everybody or eligible.

This is apparently a NZME wide campaign...

I look forward to it being pushed hard on Newswark ZB,  Favoured hangout of the  "our freedoms" and "commie Jacinda" brigade

I think we need to get tougher over the rules. Otherwise we are likely to get cases leaking outside Auckland, and CT will continue on a low level in the background in Auckland for some time. I can't see how Auck can go down to level 3 next week. Auck has one out of lockdown too early before, and was forced back up a level, and that wasn't with Delta.

I wonder why essential workers  are not required to take food with them in their vehicle, rather than visiting cafe type places with food and takeaways, which they couldn't visit in level 4 when traveling anyway. I thought level 4 people were supposed to take level 4 with them. It is one reason they removed takeaway coffees from service stations in level 4.  Cafes are currently operating in level 2. Maybe that was one problem with moving from level 3 to 2.

Also all people crossing the border IMO should be vac'd, if if not, they should be vac'd as the cross the border. Or vac'd when they get tested, like all border workers.

The guy was a food delivery driver, so he went to a whole lot of cafes and stuff to drop food off.

In one of the level3 lockdowns in Auckland i had to do work over the border with one of my staff memebers, it was on a farm so easy to distance and stuff but we both took our own food so there was no chance to spread if we had it. Seemed like a no brainer to me.

I do agree, that essential border crossing workers should be vaccinated.

Well you could have that rule if they had predicted this and vaccinated the people they knew would be crossing the border months before. Otherwise can't have that rule suddenly.
