Oblivian: Q+A was interesting this morning

Interview people in one of the northern areas where a marae vac centre was on the main drag. They sampled a few locals and cut it down to the people who weren't. And asked what may persuade them

Father of a 1 and 4 yr old - they couldn't be, so he saw no danger in not being either so wasn't interested
One had no intent, or her family. Persuasion by mandatory means, maybe. Although decided wouldn't travel if it was a requirement
Young bucks all had no reasoning or intentions. Of course said they might - with money (while laughing it off)

One suggestion to target the teen-mid aged ones was referral code rewards. Put the incentive in the mind of others rather than freely hand it.

Was this all Maori?

Not being racist, just want to be factual since you mentioned Marae vac center

I would guess not.  My guess would be that the extremely low vaccination rates are with people who aren't regulars at maraes, but identify as Maori.

My geography was off. Was late turning the TV on and noticing what was on

So it's actually worse than that. It was Porirua! (Still north considering I'm in the south ;) )

Air NZ - no jab / no fly policy for international flights announced.

The policy change will come into effect on February 1, from when any traveller aged 18 or over on the international network would have to be fully-vaccinated.

Good on them! This is just the tip of the ice berg.

More and more companies will ask for the same. The sooner this comes the better for overall vaccination rates.

Also hopefully a good sign that international travel becomes possible early next year.  Fingers crossed.

That policy should be extended to all flights - including domestic.

You can spread covid just as quickly on a domestic flight as an international flight.

No vaccine - no flight.

You can't beat Delta.

Govt needs to change their narrative. Time to get jabbed. Mandate it as legally as possible.

With the Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga logisitcs triangle.
Tauranga should be on watch.
However isolating Hamilton and Auckland from rest of New Zealand probably needs more Police checkpoints than we have Police to manage.

No mention on how many essential boarder crossers are fully vaccinated anywhere I can see.

Its doable, see Taiwan with higher population density.

We are not hundreds of cases a day, so it is a tiny portion of 1.7M in Auckland feeding this so far.

Unscheduled 1pm presser.

That'll be another mother telling off, and to prepare for the poopshow rush of testing and jabbing demand that is bound to follow.

Yep. Too far gone here now, compliance will only get worse, and more will give up, making it worse again. You cannot physically stop people flouting, you are reliant on goodwill not the Chinese Army, which we don't have here.
