Article in the NYT about Moderna.

Moderna, whose coronavirus vaccine appears to be the world’s best defense against Covid-19, has been supplying its shots almost exclusively to wealthy nations, keeping poorer countries waiting and earning billions in profit.

Of the handful of middle-income countries that have reached deals to buy Moderna’s shots, most have not yet received any doses, and at least three have had to pay more than the United States or European Union did, according to government officials in those countries.

Thailand and Colombia are paying a premium. Botswana’s doses are late. Tunisia couldn’t get in touch with Moderna.

NSW come out of lockdown - kind of:

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-10-11/covid19-restrictions-nsw-easing-explainer/100517900

Seems somewhere between our L2 and L3, but with added mandated restrictions on the unvaccinated.

Probably take a couple of weeks to see a clear trend.  NSW did far better than I expected - dropping new case numbers from ~1500 / day to around 500 / day, with subsequent slow decline in hospitalisations / ICU.

I would not count on MedSafe approving Molnulpiravir for everyone. Molnulpiravir was emergency approved in USA. This would not occur in normal times.

That may be a good thing. On the other hand do that often enough with new treatments and something is guaranteed to bite you in the ass. There are some concerning aspects of the drug.

A few Countries (Scandinavian) have hit the pause for Moderna for young adults. Particularly males.

Getting Covid is still considered worse.

As were  Pfizer, Moderna and Janssens's COVID vaccines...

Merck are pretty reputable company  and obviously the Risk/reward here is pretty high.

I would expect it to also get eventually approved under the traditional pathway too, Just like the COVID vaccines were approved here and in OZ via the regular process.

Must be a slow news day, what a joke of a story with vaccinations running at around 75K a day

If we have a meaningful amount still in storage by then I'd suggest we have bigger problems.

What's the optimal time before a 3rd jab booster?

Might get approval to vaccinate children before then.

Several cases at a high-density apartment building in Nelson Street - a quick look suggests that it's a mass of shoebox apartments with shared facilities (washhouses, gym etc)

That's not good.
