“Police recognise and respect people's lawful right to protest – however will continue to encourage people to adhere to the alert level restrictions," police said in a statement.“

Even with the arrest of Brian Tamaki for previous protest, he is out in protest again, completely ineffective legal system in enforcing the health orders. People can do what they like if there is no enforcement.

Speaking of the TV production, almost cringe worthy at times :p been some really bad live crosses (people watching 3now on their mobile waiting for their cue and missing it totally due delays and noise)

And they got clarke up to 'dj' who pushed 2 buttons and said that was it. Leaving the cameras and hosts fumbling for what to suddenly do next

Certainly seems a driver for it has been the previously raised communites of concern. Quite a bit of northland locations, isolated townships and pacifica groups being featured.

From this 6 weeks ago, and yes it was the right strategy and yes it "was" working

About face for no apparent reason outside political, as the cost to Auckland in lvl 3, vs getting covid eliminated at lvl 4 was/is debateable. Im firmly of the opinion elimination at 8 cases was well within grasp, along with the measures I suggested, ie further financial aid to those heavily impacted, door to door of demographics with help, aid, education, testing and vaccinating if chosen. Auckland deserves a very detailed explanation as to why the sudden change in tune and who was consulted to make such a decision.

To this 6 weeks later grown at "numbers beyond what we have expected". Who is we? Certainly not experts in the field, some of which were reported as sitting on the panel, blind sided and said it was highly risky. Certainly not the modeling. Im all for leaders announcing decisions, but they shouldnt be making technical decisions, that is just bonkers.

We need/deserve 100% transparency on how this pandemic has been handled, all credibility has now vanished.

If there is political pressure to this end then the commissioner needs to front up, but in any case this is completely unacceptable. turn around from lvl4 needs to be explained, not written off as "we didnt expect", hogwash imo, plenty of experts were telling them.

Yep, the only way forward is to explain why fines are not being handed out and if political reasons, that pressure needs to be explained. I feel for the actual people doing the job, hands are probably tied. :-(

6 months or a $5k fine, sigh, it will be the latter, which clearly isn't enough. And why should it be limited to the organisers, they should have been issuing $5k to every person in attendance to help pay the costs of probably only 1 person admitted to hospital from such silly behaviour. in saying that, it did look like many people were trying to keep to smaller bubbles and half wearing masks. None the less, they attended a gathering of more than 10 people and should have had consequences for it.

But we know flouters are not the main spread, so Im still wanting to know, aside from 90-100% vax rates (which is still yet to include those vulnerable youth), what are they going to do about targeting the demographics they were aware of 8 weeks ago and did nothing about. Doing "something" is required. And those are the things so called "leaders" should be communicating. Because even at 95% we are still in for being torn a massive new one imo.

Was out walking today, 4 joggers on a 2 way track, 4 abreast, 2 on the grass edges, no masks, kept running at us. Saying masks in public outside have zero impact just simply isnt true, especially when people are breathing (spittle) heavy within 2 feet let alone 2 meters, 100s of thousands of people a day with no masks on, and Id say that is 95% of what im seeing. Heck they werent even enforcing people where masks above the nose in hospital during my stay ~8 days ago. The only other people wearing masks I saw today, was an Asian family of four, who were 1km from the nearest person, ironic.

I really think they need to publish such charts simplified so that the hesitant and less educated can see the actual results of being unvaccinated.

They all over the net, sadly people get vax wane and full vax immunity confused as not working against accute infection/hospitlisation/death and then spread that as misinfo and in some instances disinfo (see it all over NZ FB comments), which they clearly are still highly effective at, especially when lowering viral load in combination with a mask.

Ive been saying, the pandemic highlights the need for internet reform, so the likelihood of finding factual information is much higher.

Get Vaxxd, equally as important wear a mask in public, further dominant strain based boosters are being worked on, natural immunity from low viral load infections (not the way you would want to gamble gaining immunity, clearly) etc, all of that is the way forward, with Moderna stating by mid next year there will be enough vax doses on earth for all humans (although I believe they stated a dominant strain version from them would be rolled out to poorer nations first, for various reasons)
