Batman: We seem to be getting a death a day
WHO have changed how covid deaths are now reported, if they die and have covid it is reported as a covid death and then it is investigated and may be changed later, it's why the homicide victim was classed as a covid death even though he was shot and killed .
Common sense is not as common as you think.
GV27:
Speaking of, does anyone know if we will still go L3 Step 3 before the traffic light system?
This was asked and got a very non-committal answer, so it looks like L3 Step 3 is dead and businesses will have to wait for the traffic light system.

This.
Prime Minister doesn't want to preempt cabinets decision on that. But said cabinet had committed to confirm the decision to move the whole country to the protection framework shortly after the 29th. Asked the journalists to read into that.
Given the 29th is under 2 weeks away I would say L3 Step 3 is not going to be used.
Also not using it means that media coverage of the protection framework will be more positive. For Auckland at least the move from L3 step 2 to "Red" means a massive gain in freedoms for the vaccinated, and little loss in freedoms for the vaccinated. So the focus will be on the vaccinated.

She's also asking the businesses who have been planning around it happening at some stage to 'read into it' as well, despite introducing a system that we'll never know if they ever planned to legitimately used to allow them to open.
Also a sly "BTW another two weeks before you'll be able to be inside with your loved ones" is also... well... frustrating. I hope non-Aucklanders can start to see why actually understanding what is happening with a response that affects some pretty basic stuff is borderline impossible.
freitasm:FineWine:Then the article says: She went on to say even if she didn't have the blood condition she wouldn't get the vaccine because she thinks mandates are a "human rights" issue.
Again, another member of the selfish society and if that is her stance and interpretation of Human Rights, then she should not be teaching.
She's an anti-vaxxer. People who say "I am not but" usually are.
kobiak:
feels like a slap in the face to allow unvaxxed by choice to enjoy summer and travel around NZ :(
I'm glad there're more details and "certainty" now.
they are also all on paid holiday courtesy of you and I.
i still can't believe we have to pay for their holiday

A master I once apprenticed under would say "Anything before the 'but' is bulldust..."
That's correct.

Berlin tightens COVID-19 rules for unvaccinated
Ahead of talks between caretaker Chancellor Angela Merkel and state premiers, some of Germany's 16 states have already tightened rules. In Berlin the so-called 2G rule is off to a bumpy start.

The number of new cases per 100,000 people in the last seven days hit 303, the latest data from the Robert Koch Institute of infectious diseases (RKI) showed.
It is the first time the rate has surpassed 300 since the pandemic began and comes just one week since an unprecedented jump to over 200.
Only 67.5% of Germany's population is fully vaccinated.

Covid flies into South Island... a matter of time ...
Rikkitic:quickymart:I think some of this comes from the American values(?) system of "I have a right to freedom". Yes, yes you do, but that doesn't meant you're free of consequences for your choices.
Sure, you don't need to have the vaccine, your choice. But it's also the school's choice not to employ you for health and safety reasons (if that makes sense).
I wonder (don't know, just wonder) if some of it does not come from an earlier generation, now grown up and working as teachers, that experienced a cotton wool upbringing where no-one ever failed or lost out or came second or had any impulse or whim denied. The result is adults, even teachers, who simply cannot comprehend anything beyond their 'right' to do any spoiled brat thing they like. They simply cannot see a connection between their personal freedom and someone else's personal injury.

Age bands under 60 are a bit tardy.
So those 20 to 39 are gonna kill us all?
