Well done Govt for changing the process.

Yip, this is a huge improvement, but I get the feeling that the horse may have bolted,
Shame it took until after the daily briefings were over, it will likely to end up as a PR in the bottom of some poor journalists inbox...

Yep well done - signed into 2 different locals today; tiny sit in snack/coffee place and SpecSavers
Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.
I have just used the new process but not before I had stumbled around the old process - it is not clear that there is a new process on the website business.govt.nz where I found all the detail about how to create my poster following the original instructions. Didn't succeed and I seems to be going around in circles so was good to see the new approach that I found on the MoH site.
However I now am waiting for my email with the poster file - it explains that this may take 2 days to arrive due to high demand. It should not take that long to get sent the poster file - will see how long it does take.
Update - 24 hours later (Friday pm to Saturday pm) email has arrived with poster attached in pdf format - printed and all done.
I've just lost my last months history :/
Stupid app started to refuse to scan anything (normal barcode scanner would) and force close trying to get to the history
Reset cache (not data) - nope
Uninstall (expecting it to leave the history behind) and reinstall... no more history
Guess they don't consider it a legacy thing to leave behind incase you need to reinstall after a failed upgrade!
Ahh Pooze. Bit late to read that!
Could have been sent out as an alert!
"We've found and are fixing an issue which meant the app stopped scanning posters properly on android devices, after a user had been logged in for more than 30 days," the ministry said today.
"If a user's phone is set to automatic updates, the fix will be applied over the next few days. Users can resolve the issue right away by logging out and logging back in on the 'my profile' screen. If they have forgotten their password, they can use the password reset function."

Updated version appeared just now.
Yeah I just had a peek at 4pm and saw it was too.
Good thing I took a screenshot recently to try encourage others to make use of it. At least have a little bit of history in the form of an image
On a side node, wait for the crazies to notice the latest google settings update now has permissions for the Covid API gone live...
Couple hours a bit late there ;)
I found out the hard way

Yeah it was most my weekend visits yesterday that it stopped after not venturing far on friday. I knew something was up with the force close attempting to look at history
If you have a pipeline already, suggest they leave the storage area alone on un-install.. at least it could resume again rather than clear it
I had a good hit rate going for the few places I did visit. All but 1 pretty much (and the hopeless countdown that they 'were removed but staff know nothing about it' blaming someone malicious despite all 3 of them in diff spots.. has still not put them back out)

As per posts below yours this was fixed today.
Not retaining the history in case of app uninstall is standard Android - it clears the data associated with an app when that app is removed.
People wanted privacy and didn't want the "government" to know where they've been unless needed for tracing, so the data never leaves your phone unless you share with tracing staff.
