I feel the same. We are importing new future cases with every flight coming in.

My concern is the 80,000 NZers being told to come back to NZ. The likelihood of cases within some of those people is now very high. I hope we introduce self quarantine or something more stringent. Although it looks like the self isolation rules have been rewritten in the last few weeks, as they are now far more strict than when I read them a while ago, so maybe they are okay now. We just need a few bad actors who don't follow it. Fines like in Oz which appear to be between $8.4 - $63 k depending on state, would be a good idea IMO as we are putting a lot of trust in people. More info at https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-03-17/covid19-coronavirus-australia-how-do-i-self-isolate/12063002

I notice that in Oz they say a person going into self isolation from the airport should wear a mask in the car when they are driven back home. Can masks still be sourced for this?

Swedes are pussies, they can't stand up to someone or something, they've even stopped testing people who have symptoms. I feel so sorry for them but I am angry because i have a pregnant wife with asthma.....crazy!

Hopefully there will be quicker test kits /methods available soon.

As far as I know (and I am not a Dr) asthma isn't a known risk factor, and there's no known particular risk to an unborn child, some newborns have been diagnosed infected, but with very mild symptoms.  You'll be okay.  Take care.

I had someone tell me today that there is no point in testing people who are not showing any symptoms, and it is a waste of a test, as the test won't show that they have got it. However people who have not had any symptoms , have still been tested in some cases, and some of those tests have come back positive. This includes this famous actor in this story https://www.abc4.com/news/local-news/how-can-someone-with-no-symptoms-test-positive-for-covid-19-utah-health-officials-trying-to-figure-it-out/ . Apparently the Wellington case also didn't have any symptoms but also tested positive using the test. So there are a lot of unknowns about this virus

Can you get a refund on the deposit if they can't supply in a good time period?

kingdragonfly: Before watching this video, even though monkeys are our closest relatives, remember we're in New Zealand, and we produce more food than we can eat. We won't be having food riots.

But keep on to produce and export as well for others who might have to deal with downtime or shortages. Surely you also want needed products and medicines to continue to be produced in Europe, which must be ensured here. As I said, there is globalization and nobody can only think of themselves in the long run.

Sorry to say, it is. Any lung disease is (for severe cases). Pregnancy is in fact not. I don't like to panic you, but one should not underestimate an (hopefully not) upcoming situation.

I'm not a doctor either, but my wife is and BTW she's busy all day with the medical crisis management teams preparing for what's closing in.

From my home office I support her wherever I can. Things are changing hourly and my employer is experiencing this quite drastic as well.

- Mercedes has shut down production in Germany.

- BMW shuts down production in Europe.

- Las Vegas casinos have shut down.

- RKI (German Virulogic Institute) expects 10 Mill. infections (of 82 Mill.) within next 14 days, IF the counter measures are ignored by the citizens.

- Kinda hell, reminds me of H. G. Wells' "War of the Worlds"

- ICU capacitiy increase is the task of the hour.

- Whatever will happen it's mandatory to keep calm ... what? You know - the instruction that the British had provided in WW II in the event that we Germans should occupy the island (which fortunately never happened). Today it's called:

Keep calm

and

stay at home!

It's like the world is going to be going on 'pause' for a period of time. Interesting times.

I slowly believe I'm dreaming too much SciFi but sadly this is real.

And if I look outside the window, there's nothing wrong except near to no people - and quietness in a usually vibrant city - at 01:23 p.m. (LT)

for Hamburg: 358 known infections (+46 for today)

Exactly how I feel. It was even sunny out today, and going for a walk it seemed the world was the same as usual, and many people walking around as normal, in cafes etc. But in a few weeks or months, that may not be the case, and thinking that when seeing everything looking normal, is something I never imagined could happen.

As of last night it was estimated on Good Morning Britain that 500k UK citizens were still on vacation abroad trying to get home. This excludes those working or living overseas and is just those on short term holiday.

to be honest, the way it is going it's not going to matter what countries do or don't do.

we're all going to get it. some of us will pass on. my only hope is we don't turn into resident evil with a vaccine company controlling the world.

people are just walking out of AKL airport like it is 2019. no temperature checks and no checks on isolation plans in fact no information/instruction given to anyone (as of yesterday).
