So DJ had completed 3 tests , was supposed to self isolate while 4th was being processed.
The what happens to you when you arrive page talks of only 3 tests not 4.
We have a day 1, a day 3, then one at day 5/6
https://www.miq.govt.nz/travel-to-new-zealand/arriving-in-nz/
Are they including the pre departure test ?
Our MIQ is probably unique in the world in that we have exercise and smoking mixing once you pass test 1 ?
If that is still a thing ?

Stuff has released the identity.
Wouldn't like to be his shoes.
I guess he won't be performing here again.
He shouldn't be here in first place.

@MikeB4:
So he was here for some social function, sounds like a sound reason to risk so much and so many people.......Not!
When will we ever learn

What benefit a DJ brings to the country?

These DJs are seen as a big deal at the big festivals, so I get why they let two of them in to NZ to do the New Year thing. They are important in terms of promoting these events in an industry that has been hit hard.
Had this clown obeyed the rules it would have been fine.
Just keep swimming...
It's been confirmed by MoH that he followed process and was not out in the community before the end of day 10.
He did not wait for his day 9 test result to come back and nobody denies that. The problem is the whole process is based around doing a day 9 test so the results are back *before* the end of day 10 when you are free to enter the community. You can blame people for not following the process, but when other parts of the process are broken as well it doesn't become to easy to lay blame.
I am laughing here... The database schema is a bit old and I had the wrong datatype for a counter - and the COVID thread just went past it with more than 32767 replies. Lucky a quick fix that took about ten seconds.
Might have to look around the database to find any other limits.

ajobbins: By the way, for those hoping this is a historic infection, that is very unlikely. From what ESR have said, apparently you can't genetic sequence a historic infection (especially one old enough for him to test negative for the prior 10+ days).
tell that to Michael Baker , he was the one that said it could be possible.
Common sense is not as common as you think.
Brian Tamaki will be working out the optimal spread event season for omicron. I guess he will bank on multiple events till they seed the country in an unrecoverable way in terms of ensuring we see an exponential curve that cannot be slowed by restrictions.
The thing with omicron, is that at some juncture, essential services require Govts to allow infected people to work with the public, at that point, health restrictions logically will have nominal impact on an exponential process.
So I guess Tamaki is in a race to try to get us there before children's vaccines and boosters can help people get through this.
He will then, time things, for maximum damage, all psychopaths do...they thrive in chaos and strike when their victims are at their most vulnerable.
For Tamaki the pandemic is the best thing that has ever happened to him.

I was under the impression that DJ's were essential workers like cricketers and rugby players.
And doctors and nurses of course.
ajobbins: Given the timing, it seems likely he caught it in/when leaving MIQ rather than came with it, in which case home isolation (if actually done) is more of a safety net than just a longer MIQ stay.
If someone caught it leaving at day 10 (or 14, or 50) and was straight out into the community without a further test you would not pick it up until even later or maybe when it spread to someone else.
All evidence thus far suggests that he did not catch it, nor pass it to anyone else, while in MIQ.

"But he (University of Auckland professor of epidemiology Rod Jackson) added: "The most likely and possible scenario is that he got it at MIQ which is a worry." source
It's highly unlikely to be a historic infection, or that he got it anywhere other than MIQ otherwise his incubation time would have been about 14+ days
The test that came back positive was taken before 14 days so not 14+ days.
Also maybe Omicron has a longer incubation period then Delta as suggested here.
Edit: Was the Pre-departure test taken 5 days before entering MIQ?
