I wonder what it will be like @ 0730hrs this Saturday? (For my usual shop - didn't go this weekend)

Fewer outlets open with the same population during level 4, so some areas will likely not have enough capacity without lines at times. But I wonder if some peopl ear also panic buying a bit again because of level 3, and thinking that cases may increase again in level 3. I suspect many people don't want to risk going shopping if there is a chance they will catch it.

I wonder if some fruit and vege shops will open drive through options. A local store is doing this for hardware, where people order through the door or via email or phone,, and then the order is taken to the car in the parking lot.

Went for my shop at NW Wigram this morning. (Didn't go last week)

Changes noticed since last visit:

No queue.

Trolleys outside in a tent. Trolley area set up as a quick "grab and go" area for breakfast / lunch stuff.

Many more perspex barriers in place.

Fruit and vege / meat all well stocked.

Butchery / Seafood / Deli serving again - albeit through a hole in new perspex barriers.

Good stock overall. (Even had the snack chip aisle well stocked this time.

Had high grade flour and Tasti Brand bread making yeast - no Edmonds.

Cans (Baked Beans etc) still had restrictions.

Alcohol area well stocked. Bakery a bit thin. Good range in the biscuit aisle. Dairy area well stocked.

(Fish in freezer area very bare)

Less than usual (Before Covid-19) people shopping... maybe they are using their "panic bought stock" up?

Staff were saying (Sadly), that they are still regularly being abused!

Takeaway coffee now being served.

Overall, a very pleasant experience. (Hat's off to the staff)

No queue waiting, on leaving.

My exercise didn't go too well last week Friday (few days before level 4 ended).

Went out for a gentle bike ride with my 14yo son on local streets. 3 minutes into the ride I started experiencing severe chest pain so we stopped but pain didn't decrease. Got my son to call 111.

Yes it was a heart attack.

Passing motorist saw things didn't quite look right so he turned back and stopped to check. Thanks to him for being there to support my son and being prepared to step out of his bubble to assist me if I deteriorated. Ambulance arrived about 10 minutes after the call.

Stent put in within 2 hours and back home 3 days later.

My wife was naturally upset as she wasn't allowed to see me in either the ED or in the ward, but understood the reasons. Video calling helped us all cope though.

If you can't laugh at yourself then you probably shouldn't laugh at others.

No issues shopping at Pak n Slave hornby yesterday 1 May. No queues and less people shopping at 8am. Flour seems to be well stocked and hand sanitizer is back.

I suppose the feeding frenzy is over and people are getting more chilled .

My small local New World had previously changed their hours to open from 9am, but they've just started opening at 7am again. That's good for me as I like to get in early, and it was well stocked this morning.

When I have been out exercising one thing I have noticed is that couples walking together will often move apart from each other and go to opposite sides of the pathway when they see you want to get past. If they stayed together and moved aside you would likely get your 2m separation, but if they force you to walk between them then you only get half of that width!

Weekly shop time @ NW Wigram @ 0730hrs this morning.

No queue ahead of me, 2 behind @ opening time.

Large trolley waiting for me. (They know I am coming - same time every Saturday, unless told otherwise)

Fruit and vege / meat all well stocked again.

Butchery / Seafood / Deli serving again - albeit through a hole in new perspex barriers.

Got good personal service @ Butchery and Deli.

Good stock overall.

Snack aisle appeared to have everything.

Had high grade flour and Tasti Brand bread making yeast again.

A few Edmonds products have appeared, suck as 4 Grain Breadmaker mix, even Baking Powder.

No restrictions noticed. (There may still be some, but I didn't notice them)

Alcohol area still well stocked. Bakery a bit thin. Good range in the biscuit aisle. Dairy area well stocked.

Still less than usual (Before Covid-19) people shopping... maybe they are using their "panic bought stock" up still?

But still people ignoring the directional arrows on the floor at the end of each aisle etc.

Bakery well stocked this week.

Overall, a very pleasant experience again. (Once again hat's off to the staff.)

Once again no queue waiting, on leaving.

I mentioned at the start of this, that Humans don't cope well being limited severely in movement and freedom. That's not a people are retarded thing, it's a basic thing that is true of most people. I predicted as time went on, a larger percentage of people would fatigue of the idea esp as our cases dropped and information was indicating things were improving. It's like disaster fatigue. Despite wanting to be part of a major problem in our communities, eventually we get overloaded and need to take a break.

Fortunately, for a number of reasons, it's very unlikely level 4 would return, and even level 3 would be better in some ways with better management of online shopping etc.

I was saying elsewhere, I took a bike ride with my kids today and can't recall busier roads in a weekend.

I am not saying lockdown was wrong (it wasn't), but asking people to shelter in place for essentially 7-8 weeks is a lot to ask, some people (especially those in less fortunate situations) are really going to struggle.

Went out today for a couple of M10 click and collects and a JB HiFi one. All went well.

Traffic much increased, but not up to normal Sunday yet.

Back to working full time most days, so that is good.

My beer intake and running have increased significantly over the past month I've realised. I've gone from a few cans of beer on the Friday night (4 max) to 1 a night after work and a binge session on Friday nights - anywhere up to 3l of beer! Running has gone from 40-50km a week to close to 100km a week..guess it's all about the balance hahahaha.

I have continued to run about 40km a week which is what I've always done, but what's really interesting is that my overall weekly exercise has dropped off dramatically because of all the walking that I would usually do when I am commuting to work and moving around the office.

As for alcohol consumption I have managed to keep it to a couple of beers when I finish working on a Friday, and my usual bottle of red wine on a Saturday night. I think there's probably a temptation to drink more when you're stuck at home and that's not really a good thing.
