Well it must be up to the developer on where/how it stashes associated files?. As you can go looking with an explorer and see folders stashed away with files/settings that are retained/left behind from long gone apps.

I well aware of your clarification to the storage because 'the people demand'. Which is what made me think it was somewhat a over-look as a means to leave the data behind to manually check/keep once the push notification ability is gone should it be removed by user

If anyone knows who to force an update to my v1.0 Android 6 install let me know e.g. from a side loader or playstore

The day after I installed it MoH made the minimum Android version 7 and I cannot update Android version on my phone

Ironically it works if I clear the data each time LOL

A couple of articles concerning Covid apps

This one here on the NZ govt delay and this one here on the lack of up take of the French one

It appears that most Covid apps have disappointing uptake and effectiveness

Maybe if the pandemic become more wide spread i.e. overseas or if NZ gets community clusters they will come back into play?

Surely we shouldn't be waiting for community clusters to appear before getting effective use of the app and QR codes. We are enjoying freedom that is unprecedented in the world here in NZ currently - making sure that we have an effective comprehensive system to contact trace in place is something that we all should be supporting. Its not hard!

Yes agree. Plus it will iron out any bugs with it. Also we should be educating people how to ear masks properly  and safety, epscally when people head overseas. But NZ is an 'ambulance and the bottom of the cliff ' country. So it isn't a problem until it becomes a problem.

We only have to look over in Australia with the problems they are now having with the virus and a second wave, and supposedly the PM over there has seeked a commitment for the states to reopen in July. There is no way based on this, how I can see any travel bubble with Oz

The federal government's COVIDSafe app has not identified any close contacts of a person infected with coronavirus who had not already been found through manual contact tracing, despite being downloaded by more than 6 million Australians in two months.

Yes that aligns with other jurisdictions experiences too e.g. France and Singapore showing an app is not effective due to lack of uptake and many other reasons. Interesting it appears that our Govt preference would be a Covidcard see here

So after some messages to Countdown.

The local put their QR signs that magically disappeared back up on the window and face to face counter inside

Meanwhile the Z in the same area has removed all traces of theirs.

Sigh.

@Oblivian

I was annoyed today as acting MoH Minister in his briefing expected the team of five million to do there part and use the MoH app

AFAIK there is still no obligation for businesses to display the MoH bar code and I can only assume he doesn't know that? (sigh)

This a letter sent by the DG last Friday July 3 to many business groups:

"Subject: Stay united against COVID-19 by displaying the official QR codes

Kia ora koutou

Over the last few months, we’ve all pulled together to unite against COVID-19 and stop the spread of the virus within New Zealand. However, COVID-19 is a serious pandemic that continues to affect many countries around the world, and we must continue to be vigilant.

As part of our protection against the spread of COVID-19 it’s important we all continue to keep track of where we’ve been and who we’ve seen. This will help ensure that if needed, our contact tracing team can quickly identify and isolate anyone who may be exposed to the virus

The NZ COVID Tracer app supports contact tracing by allowing New Zealanders to create a digital diary of the places they’ve been. Over half a million New Zealanders have downloaded the app, and every day more businesses and organisations are getting on board by displaying the official QR codes.

We recently introduced a new self-service webform to make it really easy to generate the QR codes, and there’s a bulk-upload option for businesses and organisations that have a large number of premises.

I encourage you to support your members to generate and continue to display the QR codes on their premises during Alert Level 1. This is an important tool to speed up the contact tracing process in the event of a further outbreak of COVID-19.

You can find a range of further information on our website at www.health.govt.nz/nz-covid-tracer-qr, and the team is also available to help with any queries on 0800 800 606 or at help@covidtracer.min.health.nz.

TQ for sharing that. Does anyone know why the govt has not (yet) mandated displaying the MoH codes?

To be honest, it feels somewhat alienating being an actual app user in current climate. What should be supported (Exhibit A today!) rather seems to attract being looked at funny (or you are imposing on others by stopping briefly or trying to get to said QRs) if one is wasting their time.

Bunnings signs seem to have become unscannable with the official app, tried holding it over the QR code at various distances and got no response...

The A3/A2 ones are awesome. Almost get them on drive-by. Zapped before you get a chance to line it up properly
