Scott3:

Consistency issues -

  •

    • Can have thousands of people indoors in the mall / museum, but can't have outdoor dining by restaurants
    • Can have thousands of people indoors in the mall / museum, but not allowed to have a close family friend over for dinner (unless you have a suitable outdoor space)

Can use a bathroom used by thousands of people in one day, can't use a bathroom in a relative's house because it's inside.

I see the main C19 thread has reached a record 30000 posts! While I’m banned I would have thought the honour should have gone to one of the half dozen that have probably contributed 25000 of the submissions anyway ;-)

So happy to see Robertson send his condolences to the friends and family of the second C19 isolation death. Still waiting for our message.

My brother and his partner arrive back in NZ from overseas tomorrow, intending to have their wedding in Auckland next month. It's been booked for 18 months in the hope that things would be a bit closer to normal by the time it arrives. He wasn't able to come to my wedding earlier this year due to being overseas, and I probably won't be able to go to his unless rules change and I'm allowed to go to Auckland, that's if it can even go ahead depending on what the rules are that week.

Doubt it

Going by fair go last week the most common practice is to offer you credit for the same route.(on international travel)

I'm assuming that's why there are in New Zealand ads now advertising the four or five different options you've got including fully refundable at the highest tier. That naturally cost you a lot more than a standard fare which tend to be non-refundable regardless

Last year I was able to get a refund from Jetstar for flights (from the cheapest non-refundable tier) cancelled due to the first nationwide level 4. From memory it took about 8 weeks from approval to receiving the money but did get it. I also had some flights with Air NZ during that time but was only able to get a credit from them.

However, might be different now when the travel is not allowed at the time of booking.

My car is due for it's WOF.

I see our local VTNZ is operating, which is good.

But I'm not sure how I should feel about having a stranger in my car, then me having to get back in it.

I do feel a bit anxious but not sure if that's really warranted (haha I made a pun).

@kiwifidget I rolled all my windows down and was watching for sanitising.  Didn't get to see this but I was ready to do so when I hopped in.

@kiwifidget I used a Drive Sure branch (Takanini), and was pleasantly surprised, they asked me to roll all of my windows down, and they sanitised everything both prior to getting into the vehicle, and before returning it to me, 10/10 experience during what is going on currently.

Ask yourself;

Are you double vaxed?

Are the staff at VTNZ double vaxed?

What protocols do they have in place?

If you are not happy with the response, go somewhere else.

And give the inside of your vehicle a wipe down with an appropriate disinfectant.

Its going to be tough on you between now and the end of the year if you are apprehensive about this. Take small steps.

neb: Just heard of an interesting issue with a friend who hits not one but four separate "do not take the Pfizer vaccine if this applies to you" conditions, related to blood/heart problems and previous adverse vaccine reactions. She really would like to get vaccinated but apparently you can't get anything but Pfizer here. This leads to a follow-on problem: Because every anti-vaxxer who can get away with it is manufacturing a fake medical reason why they can't get vaxxed, she's seen, in at least some cases, as an anti-vaxxer. It's a bit of a nasty catch-22 when true positives, people with legitimate medical reasons why they can't take the Pfizer vaccine, are overwhelmed by a larger number of anti-vaxxer false positives who are using it as an excuse.

Neb

Sounds serious, but have they talked to a doctor ?
They should talk to their doctor, vaccinologist even better if they are serious enough to get a referral.

Covid-19 alone is significant risk if you have heart conditions.
If you are over 40 risk for Covid steadily increases, so age alone is significant risk.

Previous vaccine reactions not much of a guide as Pfizer is so different with very low occurrence, only having common fat.

There seems to be a bit of antivax around taking guidelines for AstraZeneca & J&J that had some cautions and saying its Pfizer.
Even so if you were in a country that only had these choices balance of risk with delta probably favors vaccination.

Doctor can arrange a more supervised vaccination if required I understand.
Somewhere more remote talk to vaccination center and see what they can arrange.

jonherries post #2807029 , shows Pfizer having very low reactivity amongst most allergic.
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34463744/

In the end don't trust rando on internet, just talk to a real doctor. If its serious they can refer to a vaccinologist.
Its worth the consultation fee.

I also had my car warranted and yet again it breezed through. Not bad for 2003.

While it was being inspected, I spent the morning with my anti-vax friends. They are still friends and I make allowances for their insanity. What struck me, though, is that they are more entrenched than ever in their positions. Whatever the authorities are doing to change minds, it isn't working.

Went and purchased these COVID-19 pins and stickers. Have one each sticker on both our cars and one by the front door by our house QR code. Plus we wear the pins on our shirts etc.

Enquiries to enquiries@sunmedia.co.nz

They take postal orders with bank deposits.

EDIT: the purchase website page should be up and running this coming Friday 12/11/2021. I'll post when it is.

NOTE: I have no affiliation with SunMedia or any of its companies etc.
