Interesting! They said this which sounds to the contrary: Kloeg said since they opted not to take up the My Vaccine Pass system, they had been “overwhelmed with support” from their customers.
They must have fairly low numbers of regulars then?

On a totally different note:
Life at Orange
At Orange, there will be community transmission of COVID-19, with increasing risks to vulnerable communities, and pressure on the health system.
Life at Green
At Green, there is limited community transmission, and our health system is ready to respond.
From the above should most of the country, especially the South Island, be at Green? We all seem to be concentrating on the impending doom of Omicron and forgetting where we are today.
Tricky one. We seem to be killing off the long tail of Delta, to a point where the unlikely elimination of it is possible. At least mathematically that is what is happening. Delta is struggling to increase in a highly vaccinated plus health restrictions system.
If the NSW figures for hospitalizations were accurate, and there is no reason not to doubt them, then the removing of restrictions for them, seems to have caused a demand on beds through an increase in Delta cases. Then you get omicron on top.
I do not think we can afford this dual wave issue. I think we have to try to get rid of Delta, that on its own would make a big difference in how we cope with Omicron.
I think you are falling into that Omicron anticipation. By the governments own policy we should be at Green over the majority, if not all of the country. As @tdgeek said lets get some good feeling, good will etc around the country now. If or when Omicron comes it will overwhelm us so why continue to impose the current Orange where under the governments own criteria we should be at Green.
And don't forget that our Green is a lot more rigorous than NSW

Absolute bollocks. What do you expect him to say --- that my custom has decreased by 90%? It was very popular, realty good food but people have voted with their feet.
It has won numerous awards but TBH i really hope they go to the wall as they are firm A-V. So much so that other, related businesses had to get that decoupling published by the Times-Age. Of curse they didn't explicitly state that but everyone around here knew that was the case.

No, but that would be highly amusing 😀
As for the acupuncturist, get out of town. Someone else who shouldn't be seeing people face-to-face.
Oblivian: Voices are at it again
Took me a minute..
Delivered to someone who I think is still in wigram area in chc
That reminds me, I must book in my booster. Thanks for the reminder!
"designed to make you think"?? More like "designed to mislead you"!
Yeah, nah, I think I'll stick with the vaccine, thanks. I don't think I want to see any "proof" this idiot has to his "claims" either.

I just think that since defeating Delta is possible here, that taking omicron on without the complications of Delta is a better strategy.
Although it is likely that provided we do not make the mistake of letting Delta increase, that omicron will take out Delta in this system at its current settings due to out competing Delta.
The one thing I have not been happy about in our living with Covid plan, is how we have overlooked kids. We have elected to move ahead with plans because by in large kids are not seriously affected. But to me they are the most precious of us all, and therefore risking one child has always felt morally weak to me.
The real risk of going to Green is the psychology of the masses, some among us read those signals as meaning no worries, do whatever you like lets all get a bit slacker...well that has been the pattern time and again with both vaccine uptake and the lack or urgency and with the likes of scanning and mask wearing.
Then you have to peel it all back again when omicron hits, which feels like a set back.
Is the restrictions at orange really that difficult in peoples lives? (rhetorical) because bottom line, if you change settings then expect to lose the delicate balance that is sending the Delta curve into a decline off an R naught and seven day trend that is telling us...keep going...don't stop now.
We are barely beating Delta, but the point is that we are beating it.
Delta is the one that is going to take all our ICU beds. We have to do our best to get rid of it from here.
Just keep swimming...

Strangely :)
This is pretty appalling too.
Any Cantabrians care to weigh in on this place? This is shocking.

despite all our criticism of the lack of vaccination when we didn't have delta, it turns out that vaccinating like crazy and have fresh double vaccination after delta outbreak is the antidote - to delta at least.

The owner outed himself as an anti everything and a QAnon supporter (why do you think it's called Q Foods?) a few months back in our local Geraldine paper. He also played propaganda videos that were audible outside the cafe as well as plastering all the windows with stickers with the most ridiculous slogans. It's an eyesore.
He obviously has a death wish as far as his business is concerned. The average age of a Geraldine resident is probably in the mid 60's and they simply won't poke up with that sort of 'carry on'.
I don't know if the place is closed although it always looks like it is but it is only a matter of time.

Judging by these photos. the Owner is no spring chicken either -

Seeing as that was last April and he's still there I guess the buyers haven't exactly been queuing up.
My wife and I got our boosters yesterday. Bit of a drama.
I did a walk in at a pharmacy on the shore, she was at home on Waiheke. Tried to walk in at the two clinics we have here (one of which on the healthpoint website says allows walk-ins). Both turned her away, said to make a booking. She has variable work hours, and wanted the booster on a day when she didn't have to work the next day.
I had a job to do out at Manukau, so told her to jump on the ferry and we'd do a walk-in there (again, healthpoint website said there were two sites at Manukau Westfield). Neither of the sites was doing walk ins - the pharmacy said from Wednesday, and the medical centre over the road just seemed so badly organised I'm surprised anyone gets jabbed there (on the website it says walk-ins till 1230, we got there at 1215, and were fobbed off - I suspect too lazy to send us through - that was the impression we got anyway). Ended up driving back to the Pharmacy at Sunnynook and got it done (great service there by the way).
Bit lethargic and a slightly sore arm today. Glad we've got it done though.
