Well, I feel that Jetstar are about to become Karen's choice...

The big question is will the 93% of the vaccinated population be prepared to "spin the wheel" to see if they sit next to her .... pretty big business decision by Jstar...

Covid-19: Airlines, ferries keep vaccine or test requirement - except Jetstar

And I will continue to not fly with Jetstar ever.

I remember years ago when some vaccinations were done at school.
We had the odd episode of fainting, and no one made a big deal of it. Its to be expected with kids.
They were at school the next day, so no-one went missing.

Senior school even participated in blood donations and yep there was the odd keen donator that fainted afterwards.

If you look up various trials you also find similar for people given placebo

Pretty sure just having them all sit down and then waving an exposed empty syringe near some kids arms will engender the same result.....

I see Bloomfield confirming to the media that they are working on changes to the traffic lights for omicron.

How pathetic is this.

"Voices for Freedom members were in attendance at the vaccination centre today, however there were also other members of the public there as well. We appreciate that it may have been confusing to know who was who from an outsider's perspective," they say.

"Expectations for behaviour at VFF events are clearly set out in our code of conduct and include interacting with members of the public respectfully at all times. Generally, our VFF pop-up events (with signs) are silent stands with members encouraged to remain quiet, positive, and calm."

Right. Except the people in the photos next to the cars (in both articles) just happened to have one of your signs.

Kinda highlights the underlying issue. Customers looking for attributes other than price are typically already going elsewhere.

Their customers are largely using the airline based on price. Given this, it is not really a great business decision for jet-star to follow air NZ into needing vaccine passes or a test from 12y3m+ passengers. Would consume staff time, adding cost.

Oblivian: The lotus heart has been pinged the first phase

This was the place where the boss is a natural believer, and gor staff to wear exemptions rather than masks..

https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/covid-19-delta-outbreak-christchurch-restaurant-the-lotus-heart-penalised-for-multiple-covid-19-rule-breaches/DFIXPSQJTZAMIUXPDKLGHS36JI/

This case has highlighted that the authorities don't have the tools they need to check workers vaccination status (or verify employers record keeping of said status).

"Vaccination status hasn't been determined at this point but if the business is found to be non-compliant in this area a separate infringement notice could be issued."

https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/health/coronavirus/127527587/christchurch-restaurant-lotusheart-still-not-following-covid-guidelines-after-20000-fine

Looks like they haven't learned anything yet.

Any Cantabrians go to this place?

Surprised no one has picked up on this:

What a strange way to announce what is effectively a border closure.

Its only a partial "closure" as there are people with future MIQ slots that were allocated in past events which allow entry in Feb.March and April

But it will certainly limit the flow for a while as no new spaces will be provided..

But, yeah doing it via a tweet and statement at 7:30 on a Tuesday Night is a but in the nose.... It should have really been done by a Minister.... but they are mostly on holiday or at the gym....

There is a Cabinet meeting today and border opening is one of the topics. Announcements on Thursday.

One reason cited for the suspension of the lobby is that many more people are turning up at the border with omicron which probably means they stay in MIQ longer. Also the change to 10 day stays reduced the number of rooms. Maybe also reserving space in case community omicron cases need them.

I wouldn't necessarily read this as a closure.

What's the story with this genius? Personally I think he's full of it.

A bunch of people have developed a martyr complex around the pandemic. They think they're hot stuff, while those of us with our brains working view them with something ranging from incredulity to disgust.

I am thoroughly enjoying the entertaining discourse that is taking place on the MOH's vaccine related Facebook posts. The latest gem goes something like this:

  • "What about the five kids who collapsed after getting that vaccine?"
  • "That is misinformation."
  • "No it's not! It's going viral on Tiktok!"
