1,442 first doses of the vaccine given yesterday... thats a significant jump

The key is really boosters IMO with Omicron. I am not sure if they have actually stated the numbers or percentage of  how many NZers aren't yet able to get the booster yet due to it being set at 4 months instead of 3. But apparently about 40% of people eligible for the booster today haven't got it. I would have thought those shots are better in other eligible peoples arms now, but they may have another month to wait due to the artificial 4 month window. I am surprised the media aren't questioning this, and as to whether there would be a vaccine booster supply problem if it got reduced to 3 months tomorrow. IMO from what I have read and seen, the booster is the key Omicron, just like two shots was key with Delta. The last thing people want is to risk getting Omicron, when going to get their booster shot, if numbers are to rise significantly.

I see after sitting below 90% 12+ that Northland has finally got there for first doses.

Such a dreadfully hard hit region by Antivax healthcare workers.

I imagine we will see massive increases in vaccine uptake in February as cases explode.

It will take some kind of miracle to avoid 20k plus per day.

Ahh well we have pulled off a few.

Just keep swimming...

Speaking of Northland...

People like this (IMO) are pathetic. Why did she get anonymity? It alarms me that she didn't seem to be worried about what she did or the potential danger/injury it could have caused.

Same as I said as before, it annoys me when all this stuff is being done to protect people, then you have idiots like this who think they "know" better.

I'm a week and a bit away from being able to get my third. I wish they'd just hurry the hell up and cut the wait time.

Goes to show that perhaps there is some value in the MIQ system, buying time for people to get boosted - 51 seed points on Wednesday alone were stopped entering NZ.

The cheap shot article David Seymour wrote for the Daily Mail shows just how pathetic it sounds when people complain about MIQ when it is currently holding the flood.

And if incoming residents were locked out, that would be a problem as well for him. Short answer is everything is a problem for him

Seeing as you have to have a negative 48hr pre-departure PCR test before the airline should allow you on the plane to come to NZ you have to ask the question why there are so many.

As the pre-departure test can be a PCR self test I do wonder if there are people arriving who know they are positive so get someone else to provide the sample. There doesn't seem to be anything to stop that happening.

My wife is arriving back from the UK in a few days and into MIQ after visiting her ancient mother for the last couple of months. She has effectively been in self isolation with her just venturing out for exercise to avoid contact with other people. There are many friends she could have visited but didn't want to risk it.

The UAE have changed the rules in the last couple of days so that if you are transiting thru Dubai the pre-departure test must be carried out by a recognized clinic. Maybe the NZ government should impose the same restriction for all arrivals.

The other possibility is a RAT test immediately before you get on the plane, maybe as part of the check-in procedure.

I'd love to know what his solution is - MIQ, while not perfect - seems to be working (mostly) okay at the moment.

I would have thought 'the obvious' is a fair convincing argument in itself.

Be interesting to know. And why do medical certificates immediately make me think of PhotoShop?
