I'm guessing that someone high up the tree in Stuff has decided that this article is not to be read by anyone incase it generates sympathy for anti-vaxxers.....

The suppression of views that Stuff doesn't like is a stupid editorial policy, and is not compatible with what was traditionally a "free and fair press" ethos.

I'm guessing it will be grist for the mills of Plunket and Hosking et al by tomorrow, reaching a much larger audience..- Streisand effect 101

I don't think the parents realize that just because they found 20 people, not everyone can donate blood products and there is also a strict criteria on which blood type can donate to another blood type.

Think they don't want to set a precedent in allowing someone to select their blood source preference. It would open them up to all sorts of further craziness.
