alasta:

From what I understand you need to open the email on your iPhone and then click the 'add to wallet' link to get it into your wallet.

What happens if you don't have your email set up on your iPhone? I can see this being a problem for older people I know who don't see a need to receive emails on their phone and wouldn't have a clue how to get it working.

Is there a simple workaround, or do you just have to resort to using a printed version of the certificate?

Copy the link and send via some instant message?

Thanks for the advice. It sounds like just printing it out is the easiest solution for anyone who is not tech savvy.

I can't seem to get it added to my Apple wallet - I have tried opening the e-mail, and I even opened the link on my Windows PC, copied the file it downloaded and emailed it as an attachment - I get the pass to show on the screen but if I tap Add it just disappears and nothing seems to happen, has anyone else experienced this?

From Friday 3 December, proof of vaccination may be required in order to access a range of places like bars, gyms and restaurants.
..
The verifier app for businesses that require proof of vaccine for entry will be launched tomorrow. While a business will not be mandated to use the verifier app, it will be a helpful tool for checking customer’s vaccine passes.

Interesting to note the 'may'. And no mandate to use verifier. So essentially the good Samaritan trusts to allow jabbed only, but not actually prove they are.

Open up Applet Wallet first on your phone and make sure you’re not getting accept terms and conditions prompts. Also make sure you are running the latest iOS update ideally 15.1 and then make sure either safari or chrome is your default browser and open the link in your email for Apple Wallet on your phone. As long as the link hasn’t been mangled then you should be fine.

Thanks, after all that it turned out that it just doesnt appear in settings > wallet but rather the wallet app -- I'm by no means used to iOS so had no idea

You can get to it quickly by double clicking the power button, or home button if your phone has one.

Just curious. What’s to stop someone printing out a dozen copies of their printed QR code and giving/selling it to anti vax mates to use to get into bars etc.

I’m sure some entrepreneurial mind will come up with a solution and could make a thriving wee side business. I see it as a giant hole.

If people check photo id against the QR code information then it will be easy to spot the fakes.

What steps are in place to stop people speeding, shoplifting, using drugs or infact anything else that's illegal?

Have we received any information about overseas visitors and how they will prove their vaccination status - or have I missed something? Someone in the family is in MIQ for a visit (coming from Vic).

https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/explained/127059085/covid19-here-is-everything-you-need-to-know-about-the-vaccine-pass

What if you were vaccinated overseas?

People vaccinated overseas can add their records to the Covid-19 Immunisation Register.

The Ministry of Health recognises 23 different vaccinations, including the jabs from Janssen and Moderna.

This is done by emailing the ministry at covid-19overseasvaccinations@health.govt.nz. The process can take up to 2 weeks.

The ministry says on its website it’s not a guarantee that people vaccinated overseas will be recognised as fully vaccinated in New Zealand, nor does it mean eligibility for the My Vaccine Pass is automatic.

Why would any establishment care if their customers are double jabbed and / or have vaccination certificate?
