If you're assisting a non-technical person with getting their vaccine pass then it's honestly best just to print it rather than putting it on their phone. Obviously you still have to go through the process of logging into the web site, but I personally didn't have any problems with that.
Interesting visit to the Big M out here in chc.
Eyeball on entry only. No verify (as we expected some may not adopt since it isn't 'the lawww')
Uber driver pickup - nope, no record. Here to pickup order. Doesn't matter... calls over 2nd staff. How may have you had? None.. Calls over manager
Takes order number. Sends them outside to get it brought out to them. (I had a feeling the initial draft was clearly known all contractors supporting workplaces that adopt it like delivery staff needed to be..)
Minute later, another chap tries to enter. Nope. no pass, back off to join the drive through queue you go.

Well, at least they aren't allowing those without a pass into the building, better than nothing. Whilst I think it's unbelievable (Not really surprised actually) that the system is set up the way it is and couldn't be forged, I'd expect the number of people who would go to the effort to be fairly low.
Not saying it's OK, but relatively, the risk is somewhat lower.
I expect the inconvenience of ongoing restrictions to cause some who are hesitant to eventually fold and get vaccinated. This is my hope for my reluctant nephew.
I have had one Covid test in all of this.
Flu like symptoms, sore throat yadda yadda yadda, no local cases in the Waikato, 99.9% certainty of this having nothing to do with Covid. As a retiree with a prepping gene, I have just stayed home for two weeks during the pandemic and rode out any colds etc.
So...the reason I got tested this time, was because my second jab was due. Clearly you have to have your nose prodded if you intend on going near a vaccine center.
Anyway, test came back negative. But this virus I had, left me intermittently symptomatic for a very long time. Which in itself is a contraindication for having a vaccine.
After ten weeks....yep well overdue for the second shot....I rocked up for the shot (local Marae based Jab outfit had gone from shoe string to smooth drive through with lots of staff since my first shot) anyway, the nurse asked me why the long gap between shots?
So I told them my tale of woe, collectively they all took a step backward away from my vehicle.....until it became apparent I was not sick.
I am really looking forward to my third shot. I have been lucky, paracetamol has worked on my side effects. But yeah I cannot wait for that third one, I recon that one will last at least a year and maybe quite a bit longer....we will see...but I am feeling optimistic.
Just keep swimming...

For the people I know that haven't yet been vaccinated I'm not hopeful any inconvenience is going to change their mind. While they're not caught in the vaccine mandate, I'm pretty sure most of them are so entrenched they would give up their job before they got vaxxed. It's very sad.

He is anti-establishment more than anti vax. He already said if his workplace required it he would get one, which is stupid. Once the inconvenience hits, I expect he will get himself sorted. The problem is his boss is Antivax I think and he is influenced by that, and his MIL is as well.
It's really tough.

Tell me about it.
For several people I know it is as much anti establishment/this government as it is anti vax. The mixed messages from the authorities hasn't helped either. A good example being the major flip flop on mask wearing.

MikeB4: It became more personal today when you son rang from London to tell us the he and his partner have tested positive for Covid. They are both double vaccinated.
Hopefully, they are experiencing only mild symptoms as a result of their vaccinations and it will pass without too much misery. Totally understand it's still a scary thing to hear as a parent though!
MikeB4: It became more personal today when you son rang from London to tell us the he and his partner have tested positive for Covid. They are both double vaccinated. An hour after reading your post I get messaged from the US.
My brothers wife is a Doctor there. She got Covid through work. My Brother has it now, my nephew, and my elderly parents who are visiting are waiting for test results.
Harder for a parent. They feel a long way away just now. Thankfully everyone is vaccinated, but there are worrying complications in the picture.
Take care man, all the best.

psychrn:I see we both worked in the same specialty. I was in the Auckland and Wellington forensic system on and off. Hard to explain to folk what your work is really all about hey.
Im a Mental health RN of 40 plus years standing.
I work in a Forensic Rehab unit at Waikato hospital.
I have to wear a mask when im working on the ward since ages ago. I wear specs which makes it more uncomfortable to wear the whole shift.
Pts escorted walks have been curtailed due to Covid 19 and visitors to the unit are also stopped until lvl 2. This made it more difficult for the pts and therefore the environment on the ward was not so good. Luckily these have been reinstated over the last few days which helps.
Ive just had a months holiday. Level 3 in Waikato a week or so before I started my holiday and now level 2 the day I started back at work. So during my holidays I didnt go anywhere apart from the odd day trips. Tell you what though the garden is looking the best it has in a while. I know this is nothing compared to the folk in Auckland but this is my experience.
That cannot have been fun cancelling all the leave status of folk who spent years earning that leave and did nothing to lose it all of a sudden.
Your work as you know full well can become very dangerous with changes like that to the routine. I must say here from my retirement that I admire you for serving so long and still going in the field.
You would think, that if the MOH could make an exception for an special needs groups under lock down periods, it would be your sector.
I wont ask about the work, top secret and all that, you could tell me but you will have to kill me...
Sorry old industry jokes are still a thing even after you quit the life.
Once again, thanks for your service and helping to keep us all safe.
Just keep swimming...
Technofreak: Quick to to Australia and back. Pre departure covid test in New Zealand $300 and results took about 12 hours which I was told was pretty quick. Pre departure covid test in Oz, $83 NZD results in 30 minutes. Makes you wonder.

My GP is $180~. $300 seems a rip.
