Rikkitic:

Went shopping today to stock up before Omicron panic hits. Everything pretty normal in town except limited choice of cat food at Countdown (not at New World). Lots of toilet paper! Pleasant vibe, no-one acting anxious or hurried. Glad I got in when I did, though. Will be interesting to see what happens after New Year.

Most of the cat food is imported. There are two brands of bikkies made in NZ and our cats *hate* both of them. It's weird. Whiskas bikkies have all but disappeared.

Interesting visit to the Big M out here in chc.

Eyeball on entry only. No verify (as we expected some may not adopt since it isn't 'the lawww')

Uber driver pickup - nope, no record. Here to pickup order. Doesn't matter... calls over 2nd staff. How may have you had? None.. Calls over manager

Takes order number. Sends them outside to get it brought out to them. (I had a feeling the initial draft was clearly known all contractors supporting workplaces that adopt it like delivery staff needed to be..)

Minute later, another chap tries to enter. Nope. no pass, back off to join the drive through queue you go.

Macca's in Rotorua [central one] has only one entry open and they have a manned desk just inside the entrance where they scan your code and if ok let you in, most people use the drive through but if you do go in it is really quick and no crowds.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

Handle9: It’s been an interesting week. We had one of us in the house get Covid this week.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery from me too.

Mrs Elp and I were discussing people we know who have had COVID.
We both know multiple friends and family abroad who have had COVID. This makes sense when you know there's been umpteen millions of cases in the world.

None of those family cases were very serious.

We don't directly know anyone in NZ who has had it. Yet.

Just got boosted in Flaxmere today. Very smooth and well-orchestrated drive-thru, lots of cars but no long wait time. Pleasant vibe with free coffee and donuts, loud music, smiling, efficient professionals. Atmosphere more like a summer market than a jabfest. I would do it again if I could, just for the enjoyable time I had.

I hope things go well for the person in recovery and others aren't affected.

Thanks. They are fine, just bored as they have another 4 days in “jail” as my kids call it. The rest of us are unaffected.

Flawless operation at Unichem Pharmacy, Lambton Quay, WLG.

Had to queue for about 5 minutes.  No donuts, coffee or icecream sadly.  (But they do give you a 15% discount voucher valid on jab-day, exceptions apply.)

Arm's a bit stiff, otherwise fine.  Felt a bit sh*t the day after my 2nd so will see how we go tomorrow.

Did Eric Clapton really think she looked wonderful...or was it after the 15th outfit she tried on and he just wanted to get to the party and get a drink?

I note test results have been added there too

Got my booster today at local chemist.

Totally stress free, and so much more straight forward than the vax clinics.

I expect a sore arm for a few days like I did with the first 2.

For walk-ins, does the current four-month limit still apply? I'd like to get mine but the online booking site is still enforcing a four-month wait, if I can get it at three months via walk-in I'll go for that.

@neb The chemist did ask for all my details, so I presume they checked it was 4 months since jab2.

I'm not aware of any avenue that gets you booster1 before 4 months.

Jab3 is different, but not sure what the exact rules are for those.

My undersatnding is they don't have the supply to reduce it to 3 months like they are doing in other countries. I am guessing if they did, they would have reduced it to 3 months already in case Omicron gets in. To have the best protection against omicron, everyone needs to have gotten their booster.

@neb It certainly does at the chemist I went to yesterday (the 10th).  A woman in front of me was there for her booster.  After providing her details I overheard her being told "you had your 2nd on 11 September, you'll need to come back tomorrow"

I heard third hand there’s a location of interest here in Palmy so check the website. Nothing on the map. Nothing under filtering to Manawatu/Wanganui. It only came up after searching the list for “Palmerston”.

You're not on Atlantis anymore, Duncan Idaho.

Daughter just sent me a photo of totally empty meat shelves in Aldi Sydney. Quite worrying and wondering if this is coming here soon.

Several friends/neighbours have done significant shops in the last few days, > $500 worth of stuff, in anticipation of supply chain disruptions when Omicron gets in.
