First jab went smoothly; they were running a tad late but otherwise no issues.

Very minor soreness around the jab area but nothing serious at all.

In the last few days I have developed a toothache which is also causing a partial sore throat. As an essential worker, I wonder if I can get essential dental care (not that I want to go to a dentist)

invisibleman18: Anyone had a test in Lower Hutt in the last few days? I've been unwell with a cold for 3-4 days and haven't been to any locations of interest but called Healthline anyway and they advised to get a test. They gave me a number to call to book a test at 729 High Street, although they closed at 4 which was shortly before I called. However the website says the Hutt call centre is closed and to use the Riverbank carpark pop up testing center instead. Conflicting info from the phone and website.

No drama. Called the number this morning and got a booking for 8.50 at Riverbank carpark. First time I've had it so was unpleasant but not as bad as I'd expected. Felt a bit like fizzy drink going up the nose and made my eyes water but was over quickly.

Also got vaccine booked for 16 September and 31 October as it's opened to 30+ this morning.

My neighbours were pinged by the covid app 11 days ago and have been in isolation.  Have, after a long wait, got their first results back, next test is Thurs and day 14 ends on Sat.  Food is getting low naturally and you cannot book a supermarket delivery here in Auckland for love or money.

Being overly cautious people they rang the healthline and asked what the rules are around getting food, for example can they have friends drop some off at their gate or similar.  The healthline told them to sign up for a food bank.  SMH   You cannot make this stuff up.

Food delivery if you are sick or isolating

If you are sick, or cannot leave home to buy food or essential supplies, talk to your support networks like family, whānau, friends, and neighbours to see if they could deliver essential items to you.

Just been shown at least 2 different booking methods than the national system

If you have a Bargain Chemist..

https://www.bargainchemist.co.nz/pages/covid-19-vaccination

Seems Some Life Pharmacies are doing their own offerings to customers (still need to book using phone or specific branch email)

Some of these appear when scrolling healthpoint different listed locations. Not all use bookmyvaccine.

For the CDHB region - some of the sparate ones are listed here (COVAX etc)

This is really unhelpful. A lot of people are socially isolated, and might ultimately be forced to break their isolation rules in order to get enough food to survive.

I registered in early August at bookmyvaccine and expected to get a TXT when my age group (45+) came up on about the 18th of August.  The txt never arrived.  A minor anoyance.

I drove past The Trusts Arena in west Auckland late yesterday and early this morning.  It looks *very* much like they are setting up an outdoor vaccination centre there.

Seems a lot were sitting on the magic txt that was never received and have now got large gaps for not jumping on and self-registering as the bands opened. May have thrown the play book out when they went to that system

Looks like many drive-throughs in the bigger locations are being targeted for Essentials 'that missed out' (presume that's those border worker holes being plugged by asking business' involved submits the details..)

But they will probably widen up as a standard location down the track.

My criticism was aimed at the government support, or lack thereof. I wasn't having a go at you - apologies if it read that way.

Sometime in the last 24 hours, the rules for coffee were changed.

Yesterday (as an essential worker) I could get Coffee and Thickshakes as well as some hot food from the local Night N Day store (a diary); today I can't.

Checking the business.govt website; the working has changed
"Dairies can open. Food and drink can be bought and sold, but cannot be prepared, packaged or consumed onsite after ordering. For example, barista coffee cannot be sold; but hot pies can be sold from a warmer."

*sigh*

I was under the impression that was always how it was.

In saying that, I really enjoy my own coffee, so I just hope my coffee machine doesn't clap out...they've rocketed up in price.

Because MBIE has thrown up their hands. And made the guidelines SUPER wide. Businesses are exploiting it.

Yes, it Was excluded last year. They are considered a 'prepared product' - if someone sneezed on it. Boom.

But this time it is 'we expect essential services to self-evaluate' style. So NPD, BP, and Z all spotted the loophole started selling and advertising coffee and pies about the same day (NPD - fried chick and chips) 'for essential workers'. I had already been and got a pie from Z once. And the next time the 'coffee available' sign was in the window 1 staff went to 3 (baristas)

Last year, Z got their supplier to bag them again and not deliver raw.

Of course this just makes every tom and harry head down to get one even when they don't need gas.

Obviously enough bods have complained. And now the wording has excluded it.

Still no follow up txt for my 1230.

Goes to show, don't rely on the TXT side of it.

Unfortunately this is necessary as I think you realise.  I understand takeaway joints have contributed to exploding cases overseas.

My partner's company started pulling in work-from-home staff to dispatch web orders due to surging demand.  She was uncomfortable with being rostered on.  I was deeply uncomfortble with it, to the point I consulted Worksafe.  Fortunately push back from staff and revised govt guidelines bought sanity back.

I detest this Level 4 lockdown.  I detest the prospect of extended restrictions even more, so lets hope everyone plays the game and we get back to normality in a few weeks.
