Oddly enough the U.S. considers uber eats an essential service and is still allowing them to work in states currently in lock down.
Oddly indeed, but seeing how the US is making a joke of their COVID-19 response, we can't use that as a benchmark.

MileHighKiwi: I am furious about the warehouse. I also know of other retailers like mitre 10 who think they will be open tomorrow.
I tried calling their head office to give them a piece of my mind but it seems many others beat me to it, lines are jammed.
This is going to end very badly if this is not enforced properly.
I asked a bloke at the paint section of Mitre10, and he said "We're closing as of tonight."
The lady at the register said they hadn't been told yet either way.
It sounds like a lot is still up in the air at this point.
The idea of NZ's response of "go early and go hard" should be changed to "go early, and go moderate, as long as we don't have to inconvenience ourselves too much."

I'm sorry if this seems like a "political" post, but IMO it belongs here. Trump is a serious danger to the world - he's going to have blood on his hands in the USA - and elsewhere if he's listened to.
Just zoom into the US on this map - the number of towns with infections in every state east of the Mississippi is mind-boggling.
I also think there might be some confusion around when we're actually supposed to transition into level 4. Ive seen a couple of different times going around. I saw MoH report one time and stuff had a different time so that could be part of the confusion.

Yes, takeaways are a poor food choice but at a guess cafes, restaurants and takeaways possibly account for an average of 2 / 7 lunch and evening meals a week. Possibly more.
The message has been to 'shop as normal' for food because the supply lines will still be intact. However not allowing at least home delivery of takeaways will place significant additional demand on food required from supermarkets. It is not obvious that this has been fully thought through. Will supply lines fully cater for the additional demand, at least in the short-term?
What part of removing people from the streets, reducing contacts don't people understand?
What part of you will die or cause someone else's death if you don't change your ways don't people understand?
Opening supermarkets is an essential move. Opening The Warehouse is not, because in terms of food the supermarket got you covered - and less people out there "working".
My post said nothing about The Warehouse. I agree on that one. Home delivery of food will mean less people out there, and less people 'congregating' near supermarkets.
Another 40 cases. This is serious, people.
There are 40 new cases in New Zealand and three probable cases for a total of 155 confirmed cases. Most cases still linked to recent overseas travel, four being treated as community transmission (three in Auckland, one in Wairarapa). Recent overseas travel is still the main driver of new infections in NZ.

Boris has just announced the UK is going into lockdown.
3 weeks, which appears to make sense. Slightly less impact. All those that have it now, tested or not, should be cured after 3 weeks?
Three weeks, or a month here, gives the government time to see how bad it really is. That's the trial period. Then they can figure out how long they really need to lock it down. Look at how long it took Asian countries with police-state regimes and powers just to slow the increase in infections, and then map that to the UK...
12 cases have recovered.

Only 6 in hospital and rest are in self isolation and being monitored.
Am I blind or are the numbers not adding up. Were we not at 102 cases yesterday?

Watching a Trump new conference then watching one of ours....wow.

40 confirmed - but three more included who met clinical criteria for diagnosis - but tested negative.
(the test methodology produces false negatives - they'll re-test them)
alexx:There are apartments in Auckland (and probably elsewhere in NZ) with no kitchen.
To eat a hot meal you have to go out or order a delivery.
If they have no kitchen then they fall under different regulations for rental properties, not sure of the exact details but I know landlords who have ripped out stoves and the like to reclassify their $a as a $b.
