Just been for a walk and noticed that the four dairy's we passed are now shut. Two had been open yesterday morning. Maybe they were open yesterday to clear perishable stock, or test the waters and found it wasn't worth it.

Dairys are deemed allowed to be open, but you might find some of them are finding the 1 person inside rule too hard to manage so opting just to shut up.

I ordered a monitor from PB tech on Tuesday which was still in the 'picking' stage last night. I sent them a message asking them to cancel and refund the order if they were not able to deliver the monitor in the next week. This morning I received an email saying my order had been cancelled and I'll receive a refund.

My PB Tech order (cables... people don't have enough HDMI/DP cables for everyone to WFH at once and everyone asked me to sort it out) has been at the Courierpost East Tamaki depot since 3 a.m. Wednesday. :(

I put in an online order with Countdown a while ago and everything arrived 5 days later just fine. Even the frozen goods were still nicely frozen and the packing was very good also.

But, as you say, there is now a delivery delay of 7 days and even then it's hard to get a slot if you try later in the day. I recently got a slot for 7 days ahead by going online at 7am and it was the last one available, so perhaps the new slots each day become available after midnight?

Anyway, yesterday I decided I needed a couple of extra items and I thought I would go back online and change the order. But, with Countdown, this is not an easy task as you can't do it yourself, you have to ring customer service.

So, I did that and was told I was 58th in the queue and every few minutes I'd get an update that said I was now 56th etc. But, at the speed I went up the list I would have been waiting for about 90 minutes, so I did what they wanted and gave up! But a friend who shops with New World says she can make alterations to her order any time up to midnight on the day before the order is due to be delivered, which is great compared with Countdown! Do you think Countdown should increase its customer service staff if they won't allow you to change your orders online?

So, has anyone here had satisfactory online experiences with supermarket places other than Countdown and New World?

Just an update on the above. I checked a few minutes ago on both the Countdown and New World sites to see if they had any delivery sites available. However, both sites reported that no delivery slots were available at all either this week or next week (or any time after that).

But, if you are prepared to order online and travel to the selected store to collect your groceries, then it is possible to get a slot for next week.

But, if you have to travel to the store to pick up your goods, I guess you might as well drive there today and go around the supermarket and shop as "normal".

So, those who did some "panic" buying and don't have to go to a supermarket for the next 2 or 3 weeks (or longer) have probably done the right thing because their cars don't have to be on the road and they don't have to visit a supermarket as often as those who were persuaded to just shop "normally".

The whole point of home delivery is so that people can stay home as much as possible, but the severe lack of delivery slots is increasing the risk of people catching the virus as they are being forced to personally visit supermarkets in order to keep their food supplies going on a timely basis.

Working great for me. I DIDNT order anything. I got a email just now that my distribution order is ready to be sent, that is really efficient. Usually I have to order it first.....

And they only want $2 for the remainder of the shipping costs, thats really cheap. What a company!! Just need to click the button............. :-)

Takitimu Seafoods seems to still be processing online orders, I wonder if they qualify as essential services?

If they are, great, I'd like to order some fresh fish and the like.. I just don't want to reward companies who are taking the mickey.

They may be distribution points so potentially true.

MBIE deputy chief executive Paul Stocks said "We are doing further work on online ordering of non-food products for home delivery to see if this type of retail can be conducted safely. We will update advice on this once further decisions are made".

Stocks said there would be significant limits on what people could buy, however, the list could be adapted if it was found some essential services needed to be made available.

The ministry is doing further work today on online delivery of essential household appliances such as heaters, fridges and washing machines.

"These are things you don't want to be without for an extended period," Stocks told Morning Report.

As I said in the another post, Mad butchers have shut down with 3 million of meat sitting. Govt should buy it up at cost and distribute to those who are in need.

Just had a call from a family member who lives a couple of suburbs away. Her oven is producing sparks from area of the fan.

I could go over and disconnect the fan but is it essential?

The Mrs finally caved in and signed off on a heat pump to supplement the old Kent log fire.... it was due to be installed this week. Of course our guy cancelled, as he should have. At least it will still be done before winter.

I roast my own beans, and green coffee beans have a shelf life of many years if stored appropriately. I have about 10Kg of green beans downstairs so should be good for any length of lock down.
