Could be but it's not a meaning of the word I have used.  Exponential is very much where the rate of change is increasing (or decreasing) so graphically it follows an ever increasing curve rather than a straight line with a slope where the rate of change is relatively constant (which is what I am seeing in our data)

It's plotted on a log chart.  So, straight line => exponential.

Suggest you look again!!

Why are they asking for our ethnicity?

Because having people with specific cultural skills/knowledge can be useful when treating others from the same culture?

they also ask if you have Maori/Pasifika health provision experience but they don't ask for your gender.

I know, it seems crazy to me too... surely all the Republicans would vote for the *worst* Democratic candidate to make sure that when the actual election happens, their own candidate is more likely to win.

Happened in the UK as well a few years ago, from memory so the details may not be 100% correct but the Labour party saw an avalanche of people joining at the last minute to vote for the leadership, which was non-Labour people making sure they had an unelectable leader.

They are now asking for in-depth details of areas previously worked and speciality skills and knowledge sets we have.

All good so far.

Why are they asking for our ethnicity?  Is that a part of our skill sets?  Next they'll be asking for  our sexual orientation.

For the obvious reason that some ethnic groups prefer to be cared for by similar ethnic groups....

Just like men prefer to see male urologists...

Try being male medical student in the era of midwives trying to get your minimal number of deliveries done for general registration...

A female urologist doing clinics in the 1990's in smaller town hospital found the number of walkouts dropped alot when the Ms was removed from the door in outpatient clinic.

Once in the room and found they urologist was female they were too polite to walk out.

It may offend your we are all people but patients relate to who they relate to.

Statement by 3M:

3M issued the following statement in response to the announcements issued by the White House last evening:

Over the last several weeks and months, 3M and its employees have gone above and beyond to manufacture as many N95 respirators as possible for the U.S. market. Yesterday, the Administration formally invoked the Defense Production Act (DPA) to require 3M to prioritize orders from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for our N95 respirators.

We have been working closely with the Administration to do exactly that, and we appreciate the authorities in the DPA that provide a framework for us to expand even further the work we are doing in response to the global pandemic crisis. We look forward to working with FEMA to implement yesterday’s order.

In the course of our collaboration with the Administration this past weekend, the Administration requested that 3M increase the amount of respirators we currently import from our overseas operations into the U.S. We appreciate the assistance of the Administration to do exactly that. For example, earlier this week, we secured approval from China to export to the U.S. 10 million N95 respirators manufactured by 3M in China.

The Administration also requested that 3M cease exporting respirators that we currently manufacture in the United States to the Canadian and Latin American markets. There are, however, significant humanitarian implications of ceasing respirator supplies to healthcare workers in Canada and Latin America, where we are a critical supplier of respirators. In addition, ceasing all export of respirators produced in the United States would likely cause other countries to retaliate and do the same, as some have already done. If that were to occur, the net number of respirators being made available to the United States would actually decrease. That is the opposite of what we and the Administration, on behalf of the American people, both seek.

We also continue to act on reports of price gouging and unauthorized reselling related to 3M respirators. This activity is unethical and illegal. We are working with the U.S. Attorney General and attorneys general of every state, making it clear that 3M has not and will not raise prices for respirators and offering our assistance in the fight.

We look forward to working closely with the Administration to implement yesterday’s DPA order. We will continue to maximize the amount of respirators we can produce on behalf of U.S. healthcare workers, as we have every single day since this crisis began.

I am really at a loss as to how you draw the conclusion above I bolded. The increase in cases in NZ at the moment is following a linear progression.

My bad .. all the plots I've seen are log, but this chart is not.

Are there enough docs around to cater for such preferences?

"Sorry, I'm not going to be crash intubated by that doc.  I want to wait for the next shift when someone of my ethnicity is on."

As the next question is "What languages you speak", yes the preceding ethnicity question is quite bizarre. The only reason I can think of, and really hope I am wrong, is ethnicity is a touchy subject re the "Chinese Virus". So they throw all those other ethnicities in to cover that up.

But others prior to this post have come up with saner and more logical answers.

Edit: in bold to make it clearer what I meant to say

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

It's a pity they're all done as a huge list of static PDFs. If only there was a company that knew a bit about the web that could help Google put it up on a web page.

MikeB4: Clearing my snail mail box today and the only item in over a week was hand delivered official Covid-19 leaflet. As I slowly made my way up our driveway I thought a hand delivered leaflet about a pandemic delivered during a pandemic isolation lock down. Seems a little counter intuitive.

Not really an answer to the questions raised, but the SARS Cov 1 virus did't survive very long on paper.
It's very hard to conduct these tests, methodology discussed in the paper:

https://academic.oup.com/cid/article/41/7/e67/310340

So the SARS CoV 2 (c-19) virus is very similar - the same trend should apply.

People are facing an invisible, unknown enemy that can kill them. And their families. This could have been a racist prick, but more likely was someone who was terrified and not thinking clearly.
