Business consumption of utilities has fallen off a cliff.

Are you suggesting that councils should make all it’s librarians redundant?

The WCC is talking about rates deferral. It might also consider reducing the pay for all of its overpaid staff as well since there is no longer any income from rates, swimming pools, car meters, infringements, library fines etc., rather than just borrow money to pay its staff.

I’d like to see the evidence that their staff are overpaid compared to comparable roles. Or is this something that Karen on facebook told you?

Funnily enough most of it is print screened browser windows cause he can’t crop but anyway...

The question depends on whether the person you're asking is a Fox/Breitbart/Inforwars/etc viewer or not.

I've got the same thing with a friend. I keep getting sent links to shock, horror videos and "news" stories from conspiracy-theory web sites and the like. Mostly I ignore them, sometimes I turn it into a game of "can I find the giant gaping hole in this story in under a minute". Usually I can, they're that bad. It breaks up the day's monotony a bit.

Recently I got sent a link to a "real" news story that was obviously, about a paragraph into the writeup, fictional and just taking the piss. They insisted it was real, until I pointed out that it was run on a satire news site a bit like The Onion.

MikeB4: The only thing that really gets to me is full body MRI, they hot, noisy and claustrophobic.

My parents both had to have MRIs last year.

Mum was pretty freaked out, I think they mildly sedated her so they could get some 'good' pictures.

Dad fell asleep - full snoring, out to it. He said it reminded him of being in his bunk in the Midshipmen's cabin in an RN cruiser in 1938/39. This luxurious accommodation was down deep in the stern of the ship directly above the propeller shafts. They were makee-learnee officers so they had bunks (6' x 2'6" x 18" I think), the other ranks still had hammocks.
He's an old bugger - we're hoping to go to his 100th in December - but a good one :-)

Every so often I get grumpy and post links to why his crazy news sources are BS. It usually stops him posting for a couple of weeks.

I got very very angry when he posted an NRA poster the day after the Christchurch shootings. That post lasted about 10 minutes.

Fortunately his wife is sane and keeps him mostly under control.

I don't live in Auckland so maybe I'm off base, but $100k for a professional working and living in Auckland doesn't seem that high.

Great when a person tries to convince me that a halon bottle located near the APU on an A/C is a tank for chemtrails. He's even more convinced of that when I refused to push the APU FIRE button on flight deck for obvious reasons. For him I'm part of the conspiracy. :-)

I think you are being a little silly.

The ethnicity reference is obviously implicated to those non emergent senarios. GP. Practice nurses, outreach teams and trackers.

Hospitals will preferentially use their existing intensive/emergent staff in critical roles primarily because there are known to the hospital and staff. Retired staff wont be put in these roles.

If you wish to talk about crash teams. These will be primarily based on intensive care and anaesthetic teams because they are the most skilled and intubating patients and in the case of Covid patients will be the ones primarily doing this. NZ is no where near a point where this role wont be done by these specialties. There is also a suggestion in my hospital that they will take over from ED in intubating from the ED staff.

Whats happening in your hospital or are you community based?

Re. the discussion about Council pay rates above:

I think it is far easier to make the case for councils to own and operate large recreational facilities such as pools and multi use sports stadiums than gyms and yoga rooms etc. There are economies of scale with a council running several pools with lifeguard teams etc. And a sports stadium hall facility can host many types of sports for example volleyball, basketball, netball, and provide a large space for big national & regional sports events.

However, council run gyms and yoga rooms etc are in direct competition with a host of privately run gyms. There is no need for councils to be involved in these.

Once a council gets into all these extra activities the number of middle management jobs seems to snowball.
