I really don't like to demotivate you. But for total NZ you are still exactly 11 days in behind of Hamburg who had the same count (989) the days before. I know there SHOULD be a difference but unfortunately IT IS NOT. That's why I try to emphasize that fact since a while (why else should you have a look to a single bloody German city in a completely different context than yours?). We're at 2739 infections at the moment, you're at 950 and there are 11 days to go.

Well clearly you don't understand humour.

If a person crashes in front of you, it's your job to intubate if you have the skills, and yes, I do have those skills which I have used in public. However, I see that they're talking about not resuscitating those people with covid-19 as it's too high a risk to yourself unless you have full PPE on. I never thought I'd see that day.

We should do the same as Iceland with its detectives and have the police track down every suspected Coronavirus person.

It's not going to get easier if we put off a law change now. This has to be led from the top.

For the sake of civil liberties, the law could expire after 3 month.

My niece works at Virgin Orbit, as a mechanical engineer.

She says they've been cash-flow negative for years because they're still in the design-build-test stage of their rocket system. They have no revenue stream yet.

She's been working at home while they furloughed a lot of independent contractors.

However, on a hopeful note, she's been called back into the office as an essential employee again.

Virgin Orbit is getting into building ventilators for the coronavirus effort.

No I just dont think it was funny. Your "joke" could also be read as a comment about suggesting that is wrong to ask the question.

So we all stay home, we use more water, electricity and gas. These utility companies seem to be keeping quiet while they reaps the benefits of increased revenue.

Our rates have not reduced albeit we don't use libraries or other council run community funded and we aren't damaging the roads as much.

Its going be a weird day when we come back to normal and even think how we transition to that.

Are you suggesting that councils should make all it’s librarians redundant?

Perhaps not redundant but I think there's a very strong case for reducing their salary along with all other council staff just like has happened to a significant proportion of the population because the business they work for has had to close and their employer cannot afford to pay them all of their salary. It's these unfortunate people who still have to pay their rates even though their income shrunk significantly.

The same should apply to politicians and public servants who are either not at work or doing reduced hours.

+++ WARNING: Here on the daily hospital frontline several batches of Chinese "FFP-2/N95" masks have been found with small perforations (to verify, just put it aginst a light source) therefore completely useless for medical personel protection when taking care of confirmed infected patients! Several staff members already have been infected! It has been immediately reported back to the governmental supply chain. Those masks wear only Chinese characters with no western certification standards - what a crap! Be aware! +++

It's "same, same - but different!"

We gave them loads of masks when needed the most and in return we can now buy scraps that have become scarce! We will remember it. Those who have friends like that don't need enemies.

There is no link. I got it from my wife as a medical DR / surgeon responsible for 3 hospitals in the crisis management team. The delivery came from county health authorities who should know what they are buying. In the moment, there is a worldwide fight for protection gear.

I found this: *THIS* unfortunately you never can be sure if the approval is valid or not since they copy everything incl. approvals AND "3M". BTW: 'how looks a Chinese governmental appoval?'

StatNews: White House expected to recommend Americans wear cloth masks to prevent coronavirus spread

The White House is expected to announce a new policy, based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, that would urge Americans to wear cloth masks in an effort to prevent coronavirus spread, according to a federal official familiar with the policy.

In a draft document obtained by STAT, the CDC recommended that the public use homemade face coverings when in public, reserving higher-grade protective equipment like N95 masks for hospitals and health care workers, who have faced severe shortages in personal protective equipment as the coronavirus pandemic has accelerated through the United States.

Such face coverings, according to the draft guidance, would not be intended to protect the wearer, but rather prevent the wearer from unknowingly spreading the disease when in public. Individuals should wear face coverings in public settings like grocery stores, the guidance said. Children under the age of 2 and people experiencing trouble breathing would be excluded from the mask guidelines.

The guidance would serve as an attempt to prevent Americans from unknowingly spreading coronavirus before they experience symptoms. Evidence has shown that those infected with coronavirus are sometimes contagious two days before the onset of symptoms.

...“If people wanted to wear them, they can,” Trump said. “If people wanted to use scarves, which they have, many people have them, they can. In many cases the scarf is better, it’s thicker.”

...Deborah Birx, the physician and diplomat helping to lead the administration’s coronavirus response, expressed concern that Americans might take a mask advisory to mean they could go about business as normal thanks to the mask’s protection.

...If and when an advisory is issued, Birx said, it would stress that it was a precaution to be taken in addition to — not instead of — existing social distancing and handwashing guidelines.
