We have the same issue over the last week with a van make a lot of repeated tripped trips. They appear to be moving from a into a new house by themselves. Has been reported via the website on Monday but they continue to do it and none ever got back to us.

It's pretty clear the country needs a framework for hibernating businesses, including the option to suspend all payment obligations with the exception of payrolls. How you would do that legally I have no idea, but it's hard to believe it's not a ready-made go-to plan after the earthquakes etc.

Agreed - we need to find a way of stopping the money being sucked out of businesses when revenue drops to zero. With interest rates so low, surely banks can afford to put home and business loans on ice, or drop the payable rate right down to the OCR? Letting interest accrue at 5% or whatever during a loan "holiday" is just building up future problems

Yeah, I get the feeling it was a waste of my time filling it in!

Still see multiple breaches of "bubbles" etc around here daily!

Haven't see a Police car past here since the lock down!

(Used to see them around here weekly, maybe it was their route to a coffee shop which is now closed?)

Honestly it's worth looking into - an eruption in Auckland, the big one down south or in Wellington - all have small chances of happening on their own, but the chances of any one of those things happening is incredibly high. It's not inconceivable we could be in this position again at some point in the next few years - and more immediately, for any additional Covid19 issues in the next 18 months or so.

It would be very difficult. First the lenders, landlords, suppliers etc have to be told they are taking a 100% haircut because the only way that this works is to completely write off the debt. Why would the business owner saddle themselves with huge debt when they can simply wind up the company?

The knock on would be vast - you forgive Company A their debts to Companies B and C. B and C then run out of cashflow, and do the same as A - meaning D and E then have to do the same because B & C are not paying them. Etc.

So, not only HN but also Warehouse and H&M unilaterally declaring that they're not paying rent. Presumably now that the Warehouse can sell some essential lines they have started to pay rent again.

I wish cyclists would keep off walking tracks. They are rude and dont try and social distance from people that may be walking. Surely the roads are where cyclists should be with them being so quiet. I have always found cyclists to be generally hypocritical. They continually moan about cars yet their behavior toward walkers is quite bad. Its not just me noticing this..it is widespread.

What are you classing as a "Walking track", if you mean a footpath, then yes, they are illegal to cycle on (unless they are a shared path as some are). Where I am most "walking tracks" are not solely limited to walking, they are a shared path, and walkers need to recognise this, if a cyclist is passing them they need to walk single file. I constantly see walkers that just walk out in the road in front of you, they don't look where they are going, they need to realise they are sharing the path with others.

If you don't like this you should contact your council about getting the paths reclassified.

Walking track being a path very close to your home within the rules. Today I have seem mum dad and the kids on their bikes on footpaths with walkers having to go into the road to social distance.
