Raymond Gary Coombs appeared in court, remainded until Thursday waiting for COVID-19 test results.

One charge is of criminal nuisance - and one is of failing to follow a Medical Officer of Health's orders.

The latter charge carries a maximum penalty of six months in prison.

He was refused bail and has been tested for Covid-19.

Coombs sparked outrage over the weekend when he filmed himself coughing and sneezing on customers in the Barrington Fresh Choice – and posted it on Facebook.

Police arrested Coombs on Saturday night.

Judge Jane McMeeken told the court today she considers this serious offending – which has caused concern nationwide.

Coombs was remanded in custody until Thursday – while the court awaits his Covid-19 test results.

If convicted he should be forced to spend the next few months picking up all the face masks and gloves other muppets leave discarded in supermarket car parks.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Congrats to him for his 15 minutes of fame.

I think it's more than that. One "Raymond Gary Coombs, 26" was involved with a bottle bomb incident back in 2012.

Man on bomb charge

"Scott James Wreford Kelly, 25, jointly charged with Raymond Gary Coombs and Damien Gary White in connection with bottle-bomb explosions."

JPs told bombs 'just a prank'

"Raymond Gary Coombs, 26, Damien Gary White, 24, Scott James Wreford Kelly, 25, charged with series of bottle-bombings around Christchurch in August."

Bottle-bombers trial

"Three men charged in relation to four bottle-bomb explosions committed to stand trial in district court. Raymond Gary Coombs, 26, Damien Gary White, 24 and Scott James Wreford Kelly, 25 charged."

Bottle bomb accused misses court hearing

"Raymond Gary Coombs, 26, misses district court remand date because he could not get a ride from Dunedin."

Dunedin man pleads guilty to Christchurch bottle bombings

"Raymond Gary Coombs, 26, from Dunedin, pleaded guilty before today's pre-trial conference that was to set a date for the District Court jury trial."

Are there any priority people here (elderly and/or with medical conditions) who have tried to get flu vaccinations and been unable to? I am well over 65 with a lung condition and I routinely receive vaccinations every year. This time I have been unable to. I have contacted my GP's health centre multiple times since the middle of March and they keep saying they are out of vaccine and don't have enough even for urgent cases. Everything they have told me is in complete contradiction to the messages being put out by MoH and the PM's daily briefings. I don't want to start any rumours here but I am seriously beginning to wonder if false information is not being disseminated to prevent panic. So has anyone else who should be a priority had trouble getting the flu jab?

I’m approaching 70 and live on Auckland North Shore. Two weeks ago Mrs Code and I made an online appointment for flu jabs in mid-April. Early last week they called us and told us to come at 10:19 am on (last) Wednesday i.e. two days later.

We were met at the door and given jabs there at the door. Bye! Only one of us at the door at a time. Noticed that the waiting room was empty and no staff behind the desk.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Seems they need to send the police up to the turbine.

Are people thick? Do they need a law that says you can't ride a mountain bike? and if you do, it'll get confiscated and you will have to walk home.

"A mountain-biker had to be winched off a Wellington peak after going for a ride amid level-four lockdown."

"Mountain Bike New Zealand said people should "only ride close to home"

You do realise that Wellington is the hilliest city in New Zealand. I was born in Wellington and raised in the hills of Karori. I mean just look at Roseneath. So "staying close to home and being winched off" is quite a possibility. 😀

I'm really disappointed at the daily numbers we're still seeing. Per head of population we're not doing that well at all considering we're in lock-down.

we are importing 30-40 new cases each day (either passenger tests positive + their bubble member). nothing to do with lockdown, which helps not to spread to the community

Do you have a link which says "we are importing 30-40 new cases each day"?

If this is true (and I'm not saying it's untrue), then this gives weight to Patrick Gower's latest article here:

https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/new-zealand/2020/04/patrick-gower-on-coronavirus-quarantine-border-arrivals-now-or-waste-our-sacrifice.html

From the above:

I just don’t understand why we aren’t fully quarantining all the Kiwis that come home from countries full of coronavirus.

Those returning should all face 14 days of monitored quarantine so we can be sure they won’t infect the rest of us.

We need a proper seal on the border, rather than the current "honesty box" policy in which the highest risk people promise to go home and self-isolate.

...But when a Kiwi comes home, we rely on their honesty: they fill in a form, answer some questions, and if they have a self-isolation plan they can get in a car and drive off. If they live further away, they can get a plane. It is plain crazy, but over 3600 people have done it already.

Because we all know self-isolation means going to the service station, the supermarket or the pharmacy. It might mean giving Mum a sneaky hug when you are feeling fine on Day 10.

All we need is for someone to accidentally slip through, and coronavirus is let loose. Look at the Bluff wedding - over 50 people in one go.

Leave them up there to make their own way to hospital.
Why would you risk emergency rescue staff to rescue someone who is flouting the lockdown, and then maybe needed to rescue or evacuate a genuine case.
The vast majority of the population are following the lockdown.

I guess the services need a few crash dummies to keep their skills up to date. But there should at least be a way to make them pay for the rescue.

Work provided my Flu jab. Got it done on the 1st of April.

I work in the Auckland Airport area.

Yes read that before I got up this morning. It brought back an incident I had about 15 years ago. I was about to do a hill climb walking trail with my brother and sister. It was a coastal hill walk north of Auckland. Anyway I was dying for a fag. So arrival at the car park prior to commencement I had my ciggie. You had to climb a fairly steep bit at the start. I thought I was going to die from extreme shortness of breath. It was not long after that incident I took Champix and stopped smoking. Haven't had a nicotine smoke since then.

So I do know, very roughly and very less severely, what a coronavirus sufferer would feel like and it is terrible. You just can not get a breath.
