If that doesn't drive home the importance of not being a dick, nothing will.

I have a fused rib cage and as a result I have very little chest expansion for inhalation. I had to learn a new way of breathing into my stomach. I also have a fused cervical spine and have very little neck movement left. It would be extremely difficult for breathing tubes etc to be inserted.

Add to this mix a compromised immune system means I have a very vested interest in stopping selfish dickheads ignoring the rules. My death from from Covid-19 would be bloody horrible.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

So I do know, very roughly and very less severely, what a coronavirus sufferer would feel like and it is terrible. You just can not get a breath.

It's a very odd phenomenon but Covid-19 patients can be quite hypoxic even though their oxygen sats are not too bad. I've heard docs say that they can be sitting there mildly sob with a PO2 of 40mmHg. No wonder people are crashing. the lack of correlation between oximeters and true PO2s is very disconcerting.

Because if you ride your bike and need help in case of an accident then the rescue volunteers are put in danger because of your bad decision making.

Speaking of putting others in danger, the dropkick NRL (maybe their acronym stands for Neanderthals plus Raging Losers) is determined to restart.

Just like how people shouldn't mountain bike, we don't need a bunch of idiots smashing each other and potentially sending people into hospital for emergency surgery during such dangerous times anywhere. If you can't have viable sports league if you don't get to restart, so be it.

Anyone else have an issue with family members constantly breaking their bubble? My aunt and uncle keep breaking their bubble to go have a coffee with my 97 year old gran. I wont lie i've been tempted to dob them in. My mum found out and was furious she told gran she shouldn't be inviting them both in. My aunt and uncles defence is "oh we keep our distance,but we're family" makes my blood boil. If gran gets sick well know who's fault it was. Told gran she shouldn't be letting them both in and that only one of them can go and drop of groceries and to occasionally check on her well-being with a simple knock on the door and yet you know what my gran said in response to my mum? "if its time for me to go its time for me to go" Just makes me sad. We're supposed to be doing this for them.

Because if you ride your bike and need help in case of an accident then the rescue volunteers are put in danger because of your bad decision making.

So if I walk and trip I may need emergency support, with the same outcome (or maybe death, there are a lot of people that gain serious head injuries, or death by being involved in walking accidents). There are clear guidelines now, we need to accept these.

edit: Go along to the ACC website, look at the data on fall related injuries, people in NZ are very accident prone, there is no data to say we need to look at limiting biking at the moment, if is a generally very safe activity

I like watching Dr Bloomfield speak. Very little reference to his notes, good knowledge of his subject matter, despite it changing every day. There are a lot of other public figures who could learn a lot from him.

Are you intentionally trying to find a loophole to justify you going out on an activity that's more likely to cause a personal injury than a walk around the block? Because it looks to me like something very stupid to do.

This is a bit meaningless without knowing the lag built into the testing process, but thanks for keeping a tally of it.

We seem to see lower numbers on Mondays and I'd suggest this the product of reduced testing on Saturday, but I couldn't know for sure.

this is what i told my wife who, has a good chance of dying if catching it, when she wants to go to the supermarket. telling her does she want to die alone in hospital. So far so good.

Common sense is not as common as you think.
