i've had no fogging problems the last 12 months with my Hills Hat mask. The nose wire is stiff enough to hold its shape, and the mask has enough area to filter exhaled air through the mask instead of blowing out around the edge / nose area. It comes with a pack of replaceable filters and there are additional packs available.

If you have a mask without a nose wire, check if it has a closed hem on the upper edge. If so, thread in a piece of stiff wire (straightened paper clip or piece of florists or craft wire) and bend it to shape.

Thanks for all the further ideas. Paperclips are probably totally adequate for inside the masks - it only needs to bent around the top of the nose so doesn't need to be that long (though may need tacking into place?)

It's a pity that the gel product sold at Repco isn't available anymore, but Rain-X is $9 at the moment - https://www.repco.co.nz/en/car-care-panel/car-care/glass-windscreen/rain-x-anti-fog-103ml-64-bcaf21112/p/A1000802

TBH, I could really do with this on my car as well but haven't done so prior as I'd read mixed things about its effectiveness on windscreens. Certainly worth a shot so may do click and collect at the local Repco...

We have been using MEO™ LiteHelix™ Filter Pack of 3 masks since August 2020. Not very happy with them as they are a bit small too start with and they have since shrunk with weekly hand washing.

So ordered and received this week a bigger mask Aropec Reusable 3-Layer Face Mask with ViralOff Technology from marine-deals.co.nz, So we are happy but haven't done the first hand wash yet.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

We got ours from here:

You can replace the filters.  Im sure the filters can give a fair amount of life before you need to change them.

Like Finewine, I am not impressed with MEO face masks. Last year, they ran out of filters for large masks. Several attempts to contact them resulted in no response. Now all of a sudden, I get advertising emails from them. 😠 I wonder what @duckDecoy thinks of his?

I ordered a 50-pack of disposable masks for $34.99 (inc GST and shipping) from https://www.bactive.co/ I understand that this is a Zuru company and that they supply masks to the MOH. I ordered on Friday morning and a courier dropped them off on Saturday morning.

tbh not noticed any difference in these compared to others they are just run of the mill L2 mask and if you wear glasses they are hopeless.

Not impressed.  Like you couldn't get filters, and the mask is to small despite being large.  I now use disposable.

For those who prefer an more environmentally friendly and economical solution, these people tested various materials and compared them to surgical masks.

Based on their testing data,  they recommend the paper towel, denim (10oz), and 120-thread bed sheet for balance of breathability and filtration.

I bought an Untouched World mask last week - have lots of disposable ones but wanted to use the filters I have for the Earth Sea Sky masks.

The Untouched World masks are nice but get really hot.

The Earth Sea Sky Masks are good but the fibre from the filter start going through the material and get really tickly.

The disposable ones I bought (from a suggestion here) are ok but the nose bridge doesn't stay in the position you put then and move up on your face towards the eyelids. Not comfortable after a while.

Which untouched world mask did you get. The adjustable helix or the nanoknit?

I've got a Breathe99 which is a pretty good design, silicone seal around the nose and cheeks which is pretty well airtight and also mostly eliminates fogging, and two straps so it doesn't slide down your face after awhile and means you can wear it for long periods without discomfort, which I can't say for over-the-ear masks.

The only downside is that it's such a good airtight seal that you can end up breathing a fair bit of your own exhaled air, which is why I switch it for my RZ builders mask for casual outdoor wearing.

Picked up a couple Earth Sea Sky masks and realised they are just the re-usable shopping bag material. Bit a rip off for 15 bucks a piece.

Need to fine some fine cotton ones for summer (without going overboard on those untouched world ones)

And then you use the filter - you are using the filter, right?
