I was thinking exactly the same. Most of the sources are, as you point out, tabloids with right-wing sympathies not exactly known for their objectivity. The couple of sources that seem reputable, like the BBC, are not taking a stand at all, but simply quoting what Trump said. This is hardly proof of anything.

Could you elucidate your comment about Forbes web sites? I did not know anyone could post on them and Forbes is one source I would normally consider reputable, even if it has a conservative bias.

This came up during the rockstar economy thing a few years ago. Forbes publishes basically almost anyone's opinion columns under their own domain. It isn't a product of their actual newsroom or journalists, but I'm assuming it at least goes through some sort of editorial process.

People seem to be flouting the rules because enforcement is almost non-existent. So they take the chance.

I wasn't aware Forbes operated in that way. I assumed their website would be as reputable as their respected business magazine. The article I posted was written by "Kenneth Rapoza: Senior Contributor", and there is nothing to indicate lesser credibility. I have now notices the URL contains "/sites/kenrapoza" Is this the giveaway?

Regarding the other sources, (Foxnews, Independent UK, NYpost etc), these all are ultimately quoting Australian Daily Telegraph, which seems to be Australia's least trusted newspaper. I posted it because I felt that it would be unlikely that any newspaper would outright fabricate a leaked intelligence report.

I posted the BBC artical (essentially just quoting Trump), because Trump's statements indicated he had seen classified information reading the intial covid-19 outbreak that was consistent with claim's made in the (allegedly) leaked 5 eyes dossier, and article on the Forbes site.

With hindsight, the concept that highly topical intelligence dossier would be leaked only to a obscure Australian newspaper does seem odd. Hopefully there will be better information around this situation in the coming days.

Instant $1k enforcement notices is what is needed, and if they continue, then charges and bigger fines. The opposition has been saying how great Australia is doing while keeping more for the economy open, but hasn't pushed the government on stricter enforcement, and that likely one reason is because their enforcement is a lot stricter , with big fines. Although over there they do still appear to have community transmission occurring based on their latest numbers, and they are not specifically focused on elimination, at least not yet.

Guessing this week they will be getting stricter, although a bit late, as the damage was possibly done in this last week, if numbers start to increase in this next week, and more of those cases can't be directly traced back to a known case at the time the numbers are released.

On a particularly nice day last week there were many groups of younger adults congregating together on our local beach. I think we will see a second wave if this is generally indicative of attitudes.

I don't get how we are still getting new cases when the virus has had plenty of time to sweep entirely through 'bubbles' . The daily press releases are very lacking in substance about the reason for new cases.

Many of the cases are in resthomes. Some of the bubbles are very large, so it takes a lot longer for the virus to work through them. For example if someone works in a resthome, but lives in a holiday park with shared spaces, they are part of two potentially very large bubbles. The cases to be concerned about are random ones such as a worker in a supermarket where they can't work out how thy got infected.

I think as we are now down to such a few active cases, that we need to do something to really ring-fence these cases. Someone earlier suggested moving all active cases into a quarantine areas, such a a hotel.

Yep.If these two cases are linked to bubbles, then one would assume that the two cases haven't been hunkering down, they may have been shopping, lined up at Maccas, socialising along with the other thousands of flouters. The public needs to know where these new cases have been.

Seems to be the same everywhere, globally. I feel its because for many, you will get the "flu", and be fine. The younger brigade who are least at risk, are the have a beer brigade. "Invincible, I heard that on the news"

This information is contained in the MOH media release for today. It's also shown on the cluster page at the MOH website.
