Funny article about Australian coronavirus protestors.
  • "Lucifer telescope": Large Binocular Telescope Near-infrared Spectroscopic Utility with Camera and Integral Field Unit for Extragalactic Research)

  • "Spirit cooking": 90's performance art piece and etchings, which included absurdist recipes featuring such ingredients as “fingertips of the artist” and “a ruby that has been soaking for three days.”
Full disclaimer: I am against the virus. There I said it. It takes just one novel coronavirus to move next door, and it drops property values. They start breeding like rabbits, and the whole neighborhood is full of coronavirus . It may not be a popular sentiment, but I'm proud a virus-ist. Human lives matter!

The Australian Coronavirus: Our loony protesters are among the looniest

Around 100 assembled in Melbourne and less in Sydney. Not big numbers but what they lacked in people power they more than made up for in lip-quivering paranoia.

It was proof that our crackpots are just as deluded, just as bonce-scratchingly demented, just as howl at the moon crazy as you’ll find anywhere in the world.

And what’s more, save the military hardware, our local fruitcakes have shown they can give the Americans a run for the money.

The local boys’ and girls’ work did not go unnoticed around the globe.

Never Trump Republican, David Frum, the man who coined the Bushian phrase, ‘the axis of evil’, watched our boys and girls gather and trash-tweeted, “Shouldn’t Australian “anti-globalists” invent their own domestic lunatic theories, rather than importing cheap foreign-made lunatic theories from the United States?”

"Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity".  That's not what's going on there.  Stupidity can be a valuable asset exploited by people with malicious intent.

New Zealand edges back to normal after quashing coronavirus in 49 days

So, there we are, we've "quashed it", well done NZ!

In numbers of cellphone towers vandalised per million population, we're probably well ahead.

Surely that's a level of megalomaniac paranoia that should see you being admitted as a Compulsory Treatment Patient in your local psychiatric institution?

From the above:

You see, the pandemic is a myth, a lie and all those dead people have not died of acute viral pneumonia or heart failure but have been sent off for some frontier justice because they knew too much. It’s just a vehicle for injecting us with nano chips and Bill Gates is the grinning face of evil thought control.

FWIW, I ran into one of the "vaccination is secret chipping" post circulating on FB yesterday.

But gotta laugh at the "dead people ... because they knew too much", when you remember that a big chunk of the NZ fatalities was old ladies with dementia. Or, maybe, [spooky music] they actually the sane ones.

And the juxtaposition of Eric Trump's "the coronavirus will magically all of a sudden go away and disappear after the presidential election on November 3" and Donald's "It’s going to disappear. One day, it’s like a miracle, it will disappear”. I think they're drinking from the same Koolaid bottle.

If you've watched the John Carpenter documentary "In the Mouth of Madness" you'll know that when the end times come it's the sane ones who get locked up...

No new cases today. Two people in hospital, no intensive care. No deaths.

The new cases recently over the last months have been mainly linked to existing cases from known clusters. I understand from the DG that the last CT case was back in April.
But how come these active cases are still able to infect others when we are now down to less than 50 active cases? In China I heard they rounded up all active cases to prevent them infecting others, otherwise it risks creating a very long tail. Obviously in a democracy like  NZ we can't just round people up like that, but we must be able to  keep them totally isolated from people who are not infected. eg Have them live in a hotel and away from family while they get better, or the rest of the family move out to a hotel.

Compared to Australia who are still have a lot of restrictions and may not be able to eliminate the virus from their shores, NZ is lucky to have life almost back to normal. From what I can see we took the right approach. Sweden compared to Denmark shows that even without many restrictions, the virus existing in a community will mean that the economy will suffer anyway. Better for it to be as short as possible in order to get rid of the virus, than spend years with it, with the elderly essentially under house arrest, until a vaccine comes along, if it comes along. The UK PM indicated a vaccine  may not eventuate, and he now knows more than most about the virus.
