Tried turning that switch on, wait a bit and then turn off again? Can you even switch it?

It can't be switched, it's disabled and in the "Off" state.

OK, after a pile of messing around it appears the procedure is:

Turn on Bluetooth tracing in the app.

Wait a while.

Go back to system settings where Contact Tracing is now enabled.

Disable it.

Go back to the app, where it's now also disabled.

I'll have to wait to see whether this fixes it...

(As an aside, is there any way to do lists via the BBCode supported here?)

Turning off Exposure Notifications within the Android support layer stops the endless "Checking exposure keys" for me.

Has anyone had more bluetooth audio dropouts since this became a thing? I have had loads of them over the last little while, and this is the only change I can think of on my phone. Seems to be only when I am driving to/from work so around a lot of other people.

Might try turning this off next week and see if it helps the problem.

freitasm: [snip] The screenshot I've posted is from the Android settings - not from the app. A similar page exists in the iPhone settings as well.

In contrast to Android, the iPhone Exposure Notifications settings does not allow you to turn on/off - it provides a redirect to the MOH NZ Covid Tracer app (or whatever app applies to your region if not NZ) to turn this on or off. iPhone settings does give the option of a monthly reminder that this is activated and sharing info with the MOH app, as well as sharing a diagnosis and viewing exposures.

This isn't correct, if you go into Settings -> Exposure Notifications -> Active Region (MoH) -> Active Region (MoH) -> In there you have "Share Exposure Information". When you turn that off you are not in the NZ COVID Tracer app you are still in iOS Settings. And that is where you disable it.

If you toggle it off then on again you will still need to "Set Active Region" again for it to start working as you can't re-enable exposure notification settings in the app after you have toggled that slider.

I personally haven't experienced this at all.

Was looking around Android settings on my Chromebook and noticed COVID notification framework support is part of it too - installed the COVID Tracer app, enabled Bluetooth and it's activated on the Chromebook, no wait.

BarTender: My main problem is you post frequently about certain apps not working and others go “oh that’s weird as it works for me” then by the 3rd or 4th post you say “oh yeah I am not running Android” and which time everyone says “That should have been the FIRST thing you said.”
A variant of "I can't locate the computer on/off switch, there's no lights because the power's out here".

@BarTender

I don't frequently post about apps not working and nowhere have I ever said I expected the apps to always work. I fully understand there may be some issues from time to time. However my experience is the Android apps on my phone with one or two known limitations generally work exactly as advertised. My comments are general feedback and as such I consider are valid feedback.

My original criticism of this app was around its inability to work with older versions of Android. Unlike some posters on here I haven't been demanding the MOH fix this current issue, because I'm know how to disable EN and stop the continual "Checking Exposure Keys" message.

The OS I use on my phone is clearly annotated in my signature. If you and others can't be bothered reading that I cant help it if you don't realise I'm not talking about stock Android.

Well that's an interesting development on what we suspected was mostly Samsung like devices and the key checks fairly regularly/non-stop

My P20 has had the app since day dot. So signed up account and so on. Only reinstalled after one of the initial releases. Last night while we are *touch wood* in a non detected CT period, took a backup of my logs via screenshot and reinstalled

- Workmate suggested as his drive-by QR read speed that I lost ~3 versions ago had returned on his after a total reinstall. So I followed suit

What's it introduced today.. checking exposure keys in the taskbar despite being disabled. And still slow reads.

Sigh. Wish I knew what changes were made when they made the 'QR Read improvements' change better. As it seems iphones still go fast, but some androids like mine that did, now don't

I use it everywhere on my Huawei P30 Pro and 100% read. Sometimes don't even have to stop to scan.

Yeah it's the stopping to scan that seems to have slowed up. I use to get A3s from a good few meters away while walking past. Or even lifting up to try and centre it.

Now it's wait.. hold still.. wait.. confirmed!

Have to wonder if it is the non existence of the 3rd camera. (not a Pro model) and theres some BW optimization over the standard dual camera that was there before.

My phone (Galaxy S8) only has a single rear camera.  I have only used the app a couple of times since bluetooth implemented (work from home) but I did not notice any obvious lag.

Have to say I've noticed a lag in scanning on my Nokia 6.1 (Android 10) since the Bluetooth update.  Half the time it's pretty prompt, the other half I find after trying different angles if I point the camera elsewhere and point it back it usually scans first time.  Almost like it recalibrates then it's good to go.
