So I believe I just heard on One News that online orders of products required to work from home and things like heaters will now be allowed. However I can’t find any reference to this online.

Edited to add: reported here online https://www.tvnz.co.nz/one-news/new-zealand/government-announces-more-essential-businesses-including-heater-and-whiteware-sellers. Will allow heaters, blankets, whiteware, computers etc

After I managed to find an online store that's happy to ship!

Good move though imo.

Murphy’s Law really isn’t it? If it’s any consolation some of my friends in businesses that are targeting supporting this offer are now scrambling to get ready and think this will take them a few days. They weren’t really expecting this.

I too think this is the right move. Subject to decent controls (which it sounds like they’re managing well based on what’s in the article).

Harvey normans also didn't waste any time sending out an email tonight to say that they were now selling essential goods.

Are you sure?

All I see is that it is still running for essential businesses only.  i.e. you gotta qualify and prove that to purchase. (adding to cart is otherwise disabled).

Edit: However... yes I do see the banner at the top of the page.... its saying they will open the gates soon...

I wonder if the delivery will just be to the front door. I can't imagine that they'd want to do an install by coming into the house.

I can see this being a problem with deliveries of fridges and washing machines. What if you live alone and don't have anyone to help you carry the appliance from the doorstep to the kitchen/laundry?

I saw an ad on Facebook last night for an electric skateboard company that said they're still fulfilling orders but their store is closed.

Either it was an old ad, or they are somewhat stretching what is "essential"...

Has it been mentioned when The Warehouse are planning to open up online orders?

Really hoping school supplies involves paint/paint brushes/art supplies etc to keep our 2 year old entertained during the lock down

I'm still seeing this on their webpage and app, admittedly I haven't tried to order anything yet:

Likewise, actually connecting things up properly to water, plumbing and power, especially if the fittings differ from the old one. Some fridges are bloody heavy and often need two strong people to lift.

Guessing either installers, or  electricians / plumber would need to do this, as part of providing essential services.

I would anticipate (thinking of my experience with Noel Leeming) the delivery people will take it in and hook it up. In terms of maintaining contactless-ness, the customer will have to stand outside or similar.

Had to stand outside yesterday when the plumber came, as an example.

Randomly I had a miter saw stand and blade get delivered today from a Bosch promotion I redeemed waaaaaayyyyyyy back in January. Don't know what the hell their plan was, but they had originally said it would be delivered before Apr 1st, so uhhh..... good job?

PBTech is (actually this time) accepting online orders, just ordered a blue-tooth keyboard and mouse. Weird mix of things considered essential vs not, but I can imagine it is a bit of pain to have to bifurcate their range like that

Not sure which forum to put this in but this one seems the most apropos: If you're used to buying stuff off Amazon you'll have noticed that due to the Covid19 restrictions you can't add anything to your cart for later, and also that only a tiny subset of the full range is even displayed. To restore normal operation, set a fake US shipping address. You still can't order, but you can at least window-shop and save things to your cart for when the restrictions are lifted.
